The new Ken Follett. I know what I said the other day about historical novels, and I still stand by it. But my family's been reading it and the were raving about it. It's far from the best book I've ever read, but it's quite a page turner.
 
The Minister of Science, Industry and Technology of Turkey states that Colleges of Sciences are worthless because they don't have labour responses and that they should raise pastrycooks instead of physicists.

I'm sure you'll like his latest output, then.The latest works are part of a "Century Trilogy", involving British, German, American and Russian families and chronicling them from the First World War to the Cold War. I just read the second part, set in the thirties and forties. It's very engaging, but I have two beefs with it. First, he does use a couple of clichés a bit too openly I don't want to spoil it, but if you read the book I think you'll know exactly what I mean. The second is, he really strains credibility at points. I understand that he wants to have the families intertwined and share their fates, but the number and quality of "coincidental" meetings between family members is really borderline ridiculous at times. I saw one of those happenings coming miles away, and raised my eyebrows thinking, "really? That's how you're resolving this problem?"
But still, I enjoyed the book greatly. 800 pages in three days!
 
I've only read a few of his earlier novels and I certainly liked the way he keeps straight to the point and does not beat about the bush too much. So 800 pages sounds a bit surprising to me. Still, I'll look for it. Winter of the World, isn't it?

I spent half my day driving around the city. I hate the weekend traffic - not too intense but lots of lousy drivers.
 
It's like most of the experienced drivers get drunk on Friday night and are unable to drive on Saturday, so everyone else gets behind the wheel.
 
Not last night. That was my husband :P But a couple nights ago I did! Some guy gave me 'the finger' for no reason! :eek: No wait! He gave me 'the finger' because he was being a bad driver! Dumbass... <_<
 
I have no clue. :huh: I was trying to pass the guy and he would keep speeding up so at one point, I got close to him to try and pass him and he break checked me and gave me the finger! It's not my fault he couldn't keep consistent speed....
