I'm all for mindless patriotism. Since we're all doomed, short-lived animals confined to an isolated (and increasingly crowded) island in a vast universe of nothingness, might as well root for something. Beats rooting for the Chiefs.

...... :censored:

Right now, anything could beat that.... sheesh, can we have a win before Week 5?

I hate mindless patriotism (apart from sports ;-). Looks like we'll have less of this in my country in the upcoming years!! To quote an enthusiastic twitter post by news correspondent Joris Luyendijk (currently working for The Guardian in London):

Wow, Dutch exit polls: pro-EU Labour and Liberals win big, anti-EU Wilders loses big, anti-EU Socialist gain nothing. Good day for Brussels

Wilders will probably loose 11 seats in the parliament!!!

If in fact, as has been reported, the motivation for yesterday's terrorist attack on the U.S. embassy in Libya was anger over a random anti-Islam YouTube video, this has got to be the single most idiotic act in the history of terrorism.

In unrelated news, Apple unveiled the iPhone 5, which, given what is happening in the news today, has got to be the worst timing ever for a product announcement.

Because it otherwise would have been front page news, but got bumped off the front page by the attack on the U.S. embassy in Libya.

Yet people still seem to be more aware of the new iPhone than the attack...

The attack in Libya is fucking stupid, but is a YouTube video designed to offend the living shit out of Muslims any more or less stupid than cartoons designed to offend the living shit out of Muslims? Anyway, it's not really terrorism, yet - it looks more like a standard riot driven by a ridiculous YouTube video.

It should be noted this Terry Jones pastor fellow is followed by thousands of imams online, who use him to stir up controversy. He's such a fucker.

The embassy attack seemed a bit too elaborate to be a spontaneous riot. Could it be that some jihadist group wanted to do something on the anniversary of the 2001 attacks, and that this video provided a very convenient "reason"?

Anyway, I agree that Terry Jones is a moron, and the same goes for the one who made this Youtube video.

I have some conspiracy theories about the attack but I'll keep them to myself.

Just another reason for me to hate religions even more. Utter bullshit designed by greedy to control weak people who need a book or another person to guide their lives rather than trusting their own intelligence. Anyway..

Well, CNN has reported that the group who attacked Ambassador Stevens were looking for an excuse. I think that it's likely they waited for this sort of thing, and perhaps incited it. I doubt anything else would be true in this case.

ON a lighter note, I introduced my daughters to A Fish Called Wanda the other night. At first they thought 'weird, dad'. But now I keep getting:

"It's kkkkkkken cccccoming to kkkkkkill me"
"What was the middle thing?"
"Dont call me stupid"

:)
