So it was just the... thread (no individual) that got aggressive? o_O

Thank you guys! Now I'm debating whether I should actually get a car or not. My initial thoughts were that I wouldn't because I'm off to uni and I can't really afford one but I'm thinking that I should go for it now, insurance is a pig though

Don't do it. It's expensive AF. Especially if you are going to UNI now. Wait a bit to see if you are ok with money and if so, then do it.

As luck (or otherwise) would have it, you had this misfortune to mention this in the vicinity of someone who surfs Autotrader as a hobby

What are you after?

Now that the long winter seems to have come to an end and temperatures have risen to 10 degrees Celsius, I’ve become ill. Besides, someone whom I’ve seen around school but never talked to has sent me a friend request. Taking after Night Prowler’s gramps, I suppose.

"Black box insurance works when your car is fitted with a small ‘black box’ device, about the size of a smartphone, which records speed, distance travelled and the time of day or night that you are on the road.

The device also assesses your driving style by monitoring braking and cornering. It will also record the types of road on which you typically travel, and the times of day and night you tend to drive, to build up a comprehensive profile of you as a driver.

With a device fitted to your car you can access a secure website to find out how you are performing in each category. This will show you if you need to make any changes to your driving style, and will provide tips on how you can improve your driver score and bring down the cost of your insurance."

I wish we had the same policy here. So many idiots would be forced to slow down and drive more sensibly then.

Diesel will fucking love this. Think of all the lists and rankings he could make.

A 'black box' is not mandatory in the US. I just had one fitted for three months though to earn a discount. Every time I have a "braking incident" my discount gets lower. I actually had one this morning, a turkey jumped out in front of me while I was on the freeway.
