Pretty big temperature differences in southern Norway today. The highest temperatures in the west reached +12 C, whereas the lowest, a mere 200 km further east, was almost -30. One could almost be tempted to think that the mountain range in between makes a difference.

Not if you are on the west coast and south of, say, Trondheim. By road, two of the places with those temperature extremes are approx. 380 km apart, but roads in Norway aren't always straight, so say 250 km in straight line distance.
