I have an issue with female singers in general.
Why is that? And is your issue specific to metal or across all musical genres? The reason I ask is, I tend to prefer female singers to male, EXCEPT for metal. In fact, one of my most visited iTunes playlists is called "Female Singers." But very few metal songs on that list. Not sure why that is, maybe because metal doesn't lend itself naturally to women's tones in most instances (though Pat Benatar would have been a helluva metal singer, don't get me started). There are some talented women in metal, to be sure -- I very much enjoy the singer from the Gathering, Foro will be very disappointed in me that I can't recall her name offhand -- and I wouldn't say I have anything against them inherently, but I just tend to prefer men in metal. I haven't analyzed why, hoping you have and maybe that will inform the basis for my own bias.

Maybe I should have put this in the Female Fronted Metal thread, but just responding to Ariana's post here. And I agree with you about Halestorm. ;)

Yes, I dislike female rock and metal singers, but I didn't specify that just because I don't listen to much music outside these genres anyway. We had a longer discussion on that topic in this thread, I'm not sure if you have read it.

Company tried to introduce a two-tier system where new hires get paid on lower salary grid than existing staff.
That's exactly what the NFL did, with the rookie pay scale. Union agreed. Granted, even rookie salaries there are quite high. Sounds like union may have overplayed its hand at your employer, though. Don't know the law in Canada, but in the U.S., a company buying its own competitor, especially when the effect creates monopoly power (or monopsony power, in the case of buying labor) would raise antitrust law issues.

Nope, and no surprise my eyes skipped over a thread with that title. I'll check it out. Thx.

EDIT: skimmed it, and it went exactly the direction the title suggested it would, and I'm glad I skipped it. Any thread likely to prompt "keep it civil please" admonishments, I will almost always skip. That said, and without picking sides, I did like Foro's post re Ms. Benatar. I still say hers is the closest voice to Dio's that the double-x chromosome has yielded. Shame she didn't do more hard rock.

Apparently they are avoiding breaking our monopoly laws by keeping their deals under a certain dollar value.
But effectively the two firms have been trading properties in order to give each other monopolies in specific markets.

Edit:

Watching this. First off, Lizzy Hale's bad ass. Second, Bach brings his A game. Definitely puts a lot of effort into this one, as he usually phones this one in nowadays. But damn he sounds great on this.

Bach really does sound better here than I've heard him in years. I'm not familiar with Halestorm because everything I've heard of their original music is incredibly mediocre/bad, but she does have a really good voice. Never noticed how much her wail sounds Bach-inspired.

Halestorm is one of those bands that I wish would just do awesome, powerful covers instead of writing original music. If Halestorm and Adrenaline Mob could team-up for a covers-only tour, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

The greatest dilemma in life is whether to go to parties or not. Possibly the best day/night of my life was at a party but also some of the worst ones.

Pat Boone: You've got another thing coming. :D

Aside from the fact that Pat Boone is singing, I actually really like that arrangement. Add a little more soul and 3-4 more vocalists singing in different octaves and I hear an amazing Temptations song in there!
