And how do holiday allowances compare across the Maiden-loving globe? We average six weeks in Blighty. How about Canada or the US?
I get 3 weeks + 10 stat holidays, 25 paid days off a year. My company also includes 3 additional paid "personal" days off, as well as paid sick leave within reason.

I'm very, very happy with this.

Although come to think of it, there are the statutory bank holidays too (five or six of them?), but we often end up working some of those and get time off in lieu later, so I forget they exist.

In Norway, the law states four weeks of vacation, plus there are 10 public holidays - most of which are the standard Christian holidays.

However, the biggest unions and many companies have agreed on five weeks, so this is quite common. Seniors (i.e. employees aged 60 or older) are entitled to one extra week, on top of the four (or five) weeks.

Ten stats, five weeks holidays for me. Most people get three or four weeks off.
Two weeks minimum holidays in Canada.

Went to sleep at a healthy (for me at least) 2am.

Woke up at 5:30am and haven't been able to sleep since.

Went to sleep at 11pm. Eldest child woke us up five times with bad dreams. After the second, at about 2am, I gave up on sleep. Work and dentist today. Joy.

I managed a 2am, I think. Got up at an incredibly lazy 8.30am because I don't have to travel anywhere to get to work. :p

Yes, Americans, enjoy Turkey Day. Beware shopping tomorrow, for it is Black Friday, so named because people die. Every freaking year.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I think there should be some government agency (specifically here, but should be in all countries) that deals with bullshit in media. Kinda like bullshit police for TV, newspapers and internet. Basically media outlets should pay fines for publishing bullshit :D If they publish something that's not true, they should pay fines with the money going to charity... or for improvent of education, so that kids are taught not to grow up to publish goddamn clickbait articles and sensationalistic titles :censored:

I wish it was that simple. Sadly, a lot of people want to read bullshit in newspapers. It's like global intellect reached a peak at some point and remained constant, and this is what happens when the world population grows. There's a reason why the The Sun has a daily circulation of 2.4 million, while The Times has 390,000, for example.
