That could be __no5 being sarcastic. ;)

One more to go, __no5, before parity in your user rating is restored. :D

@ Raven : yes you are, but your country technically is BG, not Eire ...or not ?

@Albie : eh, yes, I was sarcastic -just to verify if Raven is really Irish

That is what I thought you were getting at. Still, it is a sticky issue on how the Northern Irish see themselves. Some do say they are British, while others say they are Irish.

Well, if I say I'm British, people automatically assume you're somewhere in Great Britain, rather than Jersey, the Scilly Isles, Isle of Man or Northern Ireland.

Besides, there aren't enough people registered as Irish on the board. :P

What is also annoying is when people outside the UK confuse Britain as England (and vice-versa).

Well, Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, and while the Irish constitution lays claim to sovereignty over the whole of the Island, they can't do anything about it, unless NI votes to restore the 6 counties to rule of Dublin.

An interesting fall-out from this is that I don't have to pay tuition fees to Universities in the south of Ireland, as no Irish students do...since the govt. claims that the 6 counties of Northern Ireland are part of Eire, I can study in the South without paying £3,000 per annum in tuition fees.

The one flaw being that there is only one Veterinary college in the South, and that's Dublin, so any potential monetary gain is soon spent on the ridiculously high living costs... :P

For the record, I see myself as British, unless choosing Irish won't fuck up the system, and the choice is between 'Ireland' and 'United Kingdom', with no option for NI.

This was a quick showing by me, I'm afraid. I need to get the dogs walked, dinner eaten - and then watch England (hopefully) beat the Russians tonight. :D

You pay tuition fees? I thought it was just England and Wales that do and Scotland an NI opted themselves out of the scheme. Oh well, learn something new every day.

Ha! That's a good one.

deep waters here....

ethnic groups can be separated from the languare barrier but in this case the conquerors speak the same language with the natives

your family name is a British or an Irish one ? just for the record
