f**k! just now noticed that  this guy in the accident of birth cover
has his hat and his sleeves in the colours of France

Wrong.  The jacket is a Union Jack, as can be seen from the bottom image here.

The same colours are found on the Union Jack as on the Tricolore...and if it is supposed to be the colours of the Tricolore, then it's backwards. :P

so what we need to find is what is more old : I know that the three-colours were as old as the revolution so let's see :

union jack : 1801 -tricolor 1794 (in fact is 1789 I think -anyway it's older  :D)

Well, yes, the Union Jack dates from around the time of the Act of Union [Of Great Britain and Northern Ireland], which was around the turn of the 19th Century, but the original design that makes up the base of the Union Jack comes from a combination of the St. Andrew's flag [Of Scotland] and the St. George's cross [Of England], and these were combined when Scotland and England were reunited, around the 1st decade of the 18th Century.

According to this source, the flag was first devised in 1606 and was the union of the St Georges Cross and St Andrews Cross - which would have been red, white and blue. :D

Either way it's older. :innocent:

I don't think your right

the reference is when flag -as it is- got valid : 1800 something

the tricolor also developped gradually
(from the blue and red that symbolised Paris and white that symbolised the descendants of Henry IV -grandfather of Louis 14 -certainly before 1600  :D)

what it matters is the official release  :D of each flag
