Without Charles Lyell there would have been no Charles Darwin as Darwin took Lyell's book on the Beagle. Without James Hutton there would have been no Charles Lyell as Lyell's work was influences by Hutton's. It all started in Scotland.

Hutton took his degree of Doctor of Medicine at Leyden.

Without Dutch education, no educated Hutton. It all started in the Netherlands.
