Ever since I've lived among them, I have wondered what is up with the Canadian's obsession with macaroni and cheese. Not that I don't like it, but it somehow baffles me how it is the quintessential Canadian thing. @LooseCannon ?

It is the staple food of university students from Victoria to Halifax.
And we call it KD.

Probably because it takes 10 minutes to make, is filling and relatively tasty and costs about 99 cents a box.

My roommate in law school loved macaroni and cheese. Between college and law school, he had a public service job at a food bank near Pebble Beach. He wasn't paid much, and all of his earnings went to golf. His girlfriend forbade him from getting food stamps, for which he technically qualified, because he was a Yale graduate and the notion of him going on welfare essentially to finance his expensive golf outings was truly offensive. Since he chose not to spend his money on food, he adopted a new diet. He figured that he needed 1500 calories per day, plus sufficient vitamins and minerals. So, he would eat one box of Kraft Deluxe Macaroni & Cheese per day, plus a multivitamin pill. Every. Single. Day. One would think that he would grow tired of that meal, but even two years removed, while we shared an apartment, he would still eat it at least once a week. He stayed thin, primarily because I think his diet probably gave him a tapeworm.

I post out of necessity.

Also, I moved my motorcycle in the house, put it on a stand and I'm going to decorate it with Christmas lights. Pics to follow when complete.
