There is hardly anything more beautiful than the world sparkling from freshly-fallen snow.

What's not beautiful is how everybody behaves like it's the first winter in human history on first snowfall.

We got our first snow 2 days ago. There was a brief moment of minus degrees about two weeks ago but now the minus is constant. Compared to the latest winters, this one is poor in show and warm. However, legend tells that snowless summers were quite common around here in the 90s.

Read an article called "20 things to know before moving to Sweden". One of the facts was that shoes are taken off when you are in a private residence. I'd say the opposite is more uncommon. I know they don't do it in the US but is it really a worldwide tradition not to take off shoes?

A-fuckin'-men. Even here in Norway, where people should be used to the stuff, it comes as a total surprise to some (too many) every bloody winter.

It looks nice, and the crunching sound when you walk in it is pretty cool, but once you try to go anywhere or do anything it becomes a nuisance.

How about a winter house swap? I'd rather be somewhere warm. There isn't usually much snow here, though, just a bit of soggy, muddy slushy stuff from time to time that turns to ice every night.

No snow for us either. Not like it would have mattered because I wouldn't have had to drive in it any way. That's the only way I like snow.
