Right, I remember something of that sort... though not too much, because I was pretty much in your state myself. ;)

Enjoy the beer festival! We've had one here last week. I'll let Natalie tell you about it. ;)

I have quite a few cousins with lots of illegitimate kids. It's pretty sad and messed up. I wish I didn't live so far away because I bet some of those kids could really use a father figure in their lives and I'd be more than happy to oblige.

My cousin lives with her boyfriend last time I heard, it's just that I think having so many kids in such a sort space of time at such a young age is a bit crazy.

You know, that was pretty common 100 years ago, at least in some rural parts of Europe.

People had kids almost every two years, and they finished off with 7 or 8 kids or even more.

I guess when you say "it's a bit crazy" tells more about how things have changed in 3 or 4 generations.

Only the fittest / luckiest would survive childhood. If you wanted a son, you needed to have three of'em, because statistically, 1.7/3 would die before reaching teen age.

Roman Catholic church in Europe thrived because rural people couldn't sustain all those kids, they often sent them to priesthood.
It was easy to secure future for good-looking daughters (marriage deal), those not so good looking had their chance as nuns.
