My oh my. One and a half hours of football, on artificial turf, four against four, can kill one's legs. I am officially a wreck.

We would only count goals scored on the volley or from headers, and when we decided that it was time to finish and declared "next goal wins", it took nearly 30 minutes before that goal came!

Where is everyone. I"m posting, dammit.

Wanna see a flame war sprout out of nowhere?

I rank captains like this:
1. Archer
2. Picard
3. Janeway
4. Kirk
5. Sisko
6. Pike

Crazy captains ( the craziest first)
1. The guy on TOS that got his crew infected with a biological warfare agent and they all died, then it turned out to be an alt USA
2. The chick that took over Kirk's body once
3. Ryker from the alt universe where the Borg had blown the hell out of everything
4. The capt that flew his starship into the Doomsday machine (Decker?)
5. Mirror Mirror Kirk

What the fuck! Although having just watched a lot of Enterprise, Archer is pretty awesome. He kinda goes off the rails in Season 3. And Season 4 has a really cool couple storyarcs with the Augments and the Vulcan stories. Awesome shit. How come they cancelled this show again?

Coincidentally, this is on-topic, as I was just watching a classic TOS episode... and considering the fact that I found the following screen cap on the internet, somebody evidently noticed the very same, completely innocent situation there.

As for Kirk, anybody else think that, if you consider how often he testifies that the safety of his crew is his utmost priority, he seems to be pretty lousy at his job?

OK, so I was kinda just trying to get some posts. I used to think that Kirk was my favorite, but i've had to revisit that. In real honesty, I think Picard is just fantastic and sits at number 1.

I know that Enterprise got a lot of bad publicity, but I thought Archer was pretty good, because he faced something completely different from what anyone on Earth had ever faced before. He was, literally, writing the rules that formed the basis of the Federation as he was going. And you are right, some of that last season stuff was really good! I kind of liked the season 2 bit, where he tried to keep his 'human morality' intact while in a situation where it required him to shed it to save humanity.

...so, that leaves Kirk at 3... Sadly, but truly.

I agree with Per, he gets his crew into the damndest positions!

Kirk is in the original series poorly written. The writers didn't really care about anything other than telling their stories, so as a result, they did whatever they needed. There was no tomorrow for them. They didn't have a seven-season story arc all-but guaranteed. They just wrote and hoped they woke up the next day with a show.

Oh, I agree with that- TOS had a completely different feel, you could tell from the first episode of TNG, they were going to be far more serious with it.

Do you think, now, that we need to discuss two different Kirks? TOS and the 'reboot' movies? I loved the movie, and watch it every couple months, cause I thought they did an awesome job with it; can't wait til the new one!

I'm pretty pumped. The villain should hopefully be amazing, as well. We'll see soon!

Quest for Fire is a surprisingly good film. I told some people about it, and when they heard it's about a bunch of Neanderthals looking for fire, they thought I was insane. Especially when I further elaborated on how they meet a girl who teaches them to feel, laugh and love. But despite it's perceived whackyness, it really is a good film.
