Wales and NZ have history, yes. But New Zealand always win these fixtures so Wales tend not to be able to back their bravado with a victory.

The only Northern Hemisphere side to ever win was England (who have also been finalist three times '91/'03/'07). Australia is the most successful side been finalists three times and winning twice ('91/'99/'03). New Zealand have been finalist twice ('85/'95) and won once (South Africa have been finalist twice and won twice, by the way '95/'07). So to conclude, the tri-nations, England and France are the only teams to have ever reached the final. Wining years in bold, if you needed telling.
