One never stops learning, eh? Didn't know that. Why do England share a national team with Wales in cricket, but not in other team sports?

Not everyone is happy about it (source wiki):

Recently there have been calls from Welsh fans for the country to be represented by its own national team as in other sports. Criticism has been made of the England and Wales Cricket Board using only the England name whilst utilising Welsh players such as Simon Jones, who was instrumental in England winning the Ashes from Australia in 2005.

Rhowch Dim Criced I Gymru - Give Wales a Cricket Team

It’s a mystery why a Celtic country with the strongest cricket tradition is hidden under the umbrella of England’s team when Scotland and Ireland have independent teams. Indeed, Wales has more cricket teams than Scotland and Ireland combined. For over a century, we’ve sustained a first rate team. And many of ‘England’s’ players have come from Wales.

In the two other famous team games - rugby and football - we have, luckily, national representation. And yet, cricket teams are just as numerous as football and rugby ones in Wales, indeed, even more so according to the cricket journalist Michael Blumberg. The standard of a Welsh test team would surely equal at least Zimbabwe or Bangladesh. So why not, therefore, venture in our own colours? ... continued

ICC World Twenty20. Where's Wales? Ble mae Cymru?

Mae'r ICC World Twenty20 England 2009 newydd gychwyn, a bydd yn parhau tan Fehefin 21ain. Felly pa wledydd sy'n cymryd rhan? Awstralia, Bangladesh, Lloegr, Iseldiroedd, India, Iwerddon, Seland Newydd, Pacistan, Yr Alban, De'r Affrig, Sri Lanca. Iwerddon, Yr Alban a Lloegr ond dim Cymru! Rhaid i'r Cymry chwarae dan faner Lloegr. Mae'n sefyllfa gwbl warthus, a rhaid cael newid ar frys.

The ICC World Twenty20 England 2009 has just started, and will last until June 21. And what countries are taking part? Australia, Bangladesh, England, Holland, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies. Yes you read right, Ireland, Scotland and England, but no Wales! Our players must play for England. It is a complete and utter disgrace.

The cricket board that England represent is the England and Wales cricket board. It may be down to the fact that in reality, Wales is a principality rather than a country, though I'm not overly sure on history of it.

Still, they have their own teams in rugby and football ...

They do and the compete as themselves in the Commonwealth games - but like I say, I don't know the full ins and outs but it could be as simple as what Foro suggested.

I agree - they would easily be the second best test team in Europe. I have no issues with Wales venturing out on their own.

Is it just me or do the bad news just keep popping up everywhere right now?

On the subject of sports and countries...whenever I see Darts and Snooker on the telly, there seem to be hardly any different nationalities. Darts is something like 95% Brits with a few Dutchmen, and snooker the same with a few Chinese....why don't more people play these brilliant sports?

@ Per, it does happen a lot.

I'm heading to watch some football pre-game, eat hot chicken and drink beer!

And when snooker first hit the big time, it was 95% Brits/Irish and 5% Canadian. What happened to the Canadians? Did they all convert to pool?

We have that live on BBC tonight - but unfortunately, I won't be watching it. ;)

Though I believe it will be co-presented by the Beebs favourite American - the legendary Michael Johnson.

I wish they would move the Super Bowl to Saturday. Everyone (here) wants to watch, eat, drink beer and party. It starts so late that it makes Monday mornings suck (more than normal).

Dammit.
I'm trying to write a simple program according to instructions, but the book forgot to tell me how to skip a line. How am I supposed to guess a line of code?
