What are the Maiden songs everyone knows?
The ones that get the non-hardcores jumping?
Beast, Fear of the Dark, 2 minutes, Run to the Hills, Trooper?

That’s why you get them all the time. For every person itching to hear Run Silent, Run Deep or some such deep cut, there are dozens, if not hundreds in the crowd who would treat them like a bathroom break, but will be going crazy for the hits. They paid their money too.

I think the band’s ability to showcase new songs and rotate second-tier songs (in terms of popularity) through their set lists since the reunion has been underrated given the restrictions they are under and due to the fact they 150-plus songs to choose from.

But they outdid themselves this time.
Well done.

Wow. Absolutely amazing. Setlist was fantastic, if people complain now they can sell their tickets and go see Britney Spears or something. Where Eagles Dare, The Clansman, For the Greater Good of God, The Wicker Man, Sign of the Cross, Flight of Icarus and Hallowed Be Thy Name the highlights.

Bruce is crazy as fuck, ending the show with Hallowed and Run to the Hills, but what a fitting end to the show. Loved most of his costumes as well, altough he maybe went a bit too far on Where Eagles Dare and Fear of the Dark.

These guys will never get old!! Can't wait for Helsinki.

Dropping the history theme really opened them up to do some oddball tunes on this tour. I've always maintained that the lack of Blaze songs in the sets wasn't due to a vendetta against Blaze or that period but there simply just wasn't room for any of those songs in the setlists because of self-imposed restrictions. This setlist seems to validate that theory. The history tours were fun, but it's awesome having a truly unpredictable show.

BTW, looking at the setlist with some stats really puts into perspective how awesome this show is: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/iron-maiden/2018/saku-suurhall-tallinn-estonia-3bed2020.html

Something will change in 2019 I'll bet. I hope it's the last part of the set. First part up to Icarus is solid for the most part

Aces High - I love this song, but it's hard on Bruce and they played it a lot lately, so kinda wish they started with Where Eagles Dare instead.
Where Eagles Dare - Yay!
2 Minutes to Midnight - Obviously overplayed but always works and Bruce is always good on it.
The Clansman - I like it, but could've done with something from SIT instead. FREEDOM! will be cool though :p
The Trooper - Always works.
Revelations - Cool. Not too hard for Bruce and another great song.
For the Greater Good of God - Clearly their favorite AMOLAD song. Would prefer Reincarnation but I'll take what I can from this era :p
The Wicker Man - Finally I'll see a tour with this song.
Sign of the Cross - Did not expect this one, but yay!
Flight of Icarus - Yay!
Fear of the Dark - Haters gonna hate, but yay!
The Number of the Beast - Overplayed and hard on Bruce, but I guess there's no point in complaining
Iron Maiden - Complaining about this one is like complaining about seasons changing - it's happening no matter what :p

The Evil That Men Do - Always works.
Hallowed Be Thy Name - It's finally back. My fucking luck that I see them 3 times and they drop it twice after playing it on every tour for 30 years...
Run to the Hills - Cool I guess. Works better than TNOTB, and a better closer than Sanctuary. Hard for Bruce though.

So overall, I'm happy with this. No songs that I don't like (and pretty much the only song they've played since the reunion that I don't like is Sanctuary and maybe Wildest Dreams). Plenty of stuff that hasn't been played in a while. Another complaint is no SIT songs... but I guess that's to be expected. They really dislike their best album :(

Surprised they did 4 songs froM POM and nothing from SIT. Why the overkill on POM. I know it's steves favorite album but damn. A legacy tour with nothing from a legacy worthy album?

A few factoids on the set list (hope my setlist.fm calculations are right)

* Hallowed Be Thy Name May be a poster child for overplayed, but it has only been played on one tour (72 times) since 2011
* Aces High has only been played in five calendar years of the 18 since the reunion.
* Where Eagles Dare just 27 times since 1993, all in 2005
* The Clansman hasn’t been played since 2003
* Posters moaned about Revelations, but it has only been played 20 times in the past decade
* For the Greater Good Of God has only been performed 60 times ever, and only on the two AMOLAD tours
* The Wicker Man seems like a post reunion staple. Truth is, the Final Frontier tours mark the only times it has been played since 2003
* Sign of the Cross was played six times in 2001 and hasn’t been seen since.
* And of course, Flight Of Icarus, not heard since the Somewhere in Time tour.

And, every single one of them, a great, great song.
Well done.

I think it’s obvious at this point that aside from WY and HCW that the band doesn’t care for or has any interest in playing anything from SIT.

They don't like the way they sound live. It's tough to do them live and it's sad because the studio production is phenomenal
