I love how he sings
the fire in the skyyy.
exactly that moment! a similar nuance is his different take on FTGGOG: "Again tell me me WHAT!! liiife iiiis!!". He says it this way rarely, often at the very end of FTGGOG. Just amazing.

see 47.09:

I also love his more roasted sound in the fast passages of the song. He doesn't sound that good even in the album recording-- don't mention the 2006 live version.

Does anybody know if Iron Maiden will have a Legacy of the Beast tour in LatinAmerica in 2019?
Nicko confirmed at the Rock N Roll Ribs party last December that they'll be in the US in 2019. Bruce said recently at one of his business talks in Brazil that they're in negotiations to come to Rock In Rio 2019- so I'd say yes. There are also some rumors of festival runs in Europe as well. Either way, they'll be touring next year on multiple continents.

I've been listening to live Aces High more than I ever had. It has always sounded meh before (though I'm coming round to LAD's), but I could change and upload from LOTB and they're all great. Absolutely nailing it.

It's likely that North and South America will be getting legs of this tour next year; the hard part is waiting for conformation!

There's also that recent Spanish interview with Steve, where he says they'll be meeting to begin work on an album early next year - could be a very busy 2019 for the lads!

Given that this realistically could be their last album, it could be tough one to make. Will they try to do a combo of fun and epic to end their recording career spectacularly, or will they try to out-dark TBOS? I hope they don't try to cram absolutely everything in their arsenal into it and make it mess. I can see Steve wanting that. Given the result of what looked like his attempt to do that in just one song (Red and the Black), I hope he's given up on that tactic now.

Pessimist! :mad::p

Well I mean... he succeeded with that one.....

Anyway, I'm just gonna trust the boys to do their best; that's all anyone can really do. The only meh album since 1982 has been TFF. TBOS was awesome, if they can top that, they're genuinely gods.

I think we will have a more direct album.

Why is that? Because Steve was asked many times about the lenght of the songs on TBOS and why some of them were so long (particularly TRATB ) and his answer was something like: "I don't know, it just turns out to be this way, but maybe next album it will be different, I don't know".

Where is that interview? I don't really remember, but I'm pretty sure I read 3 or 4 interviews where he said that and mentioned that things could be different in the future. Also, Bruce and Adrian obviously tried this approach (Speed of Light + Death or Glory).

So I think we will have something like "standard" Maiden album during the 80's: 3 or 4 short rockers, including one from Steve (!), then 3 or 4 midterm (5~7 minutes) and two epics. Mark my words.

To sum it up: it is going to be SSoaSS 2.0.

That was the intention when they entered the studio for TBOS. More straight ahead songs.

Look what they made in the end...
:D

I genuinely think Steve is going to try and outdo Bruce with Empire of the Clouds. Hopefully it's less like The Red and the Black and more like The Sign of the Cross. I could see it being another double, especially if they use the supposed leftover material from TBOS.

I do hope they approach it as their last album and try to put the extra effort in. So far it seems like every other album loses a bit of steam in the reunion era, I hope that trend doesn't continue. I'd like to hear one more proggy piece from Adrian but I've gotten the impression that he's past that. If they can deliver the passion and freshness of TBOS with the variety of TFF then I'd be pretty happy.

Obviously you must've been asleep while TBOS was playing.

Unfortunately I was quite awake. To be honest this is the only reunion album I come back to listen to. However it is bloaded and excessive. In the other hand there are quite a few good ideas here and there.

That is a bit shorter version of Where Eagles Dare than the studio one... o_O:p

I like how Maiden shortens or make some songs longer live.

Like they skipped the intro on OOTSP and MITRM.... | Sanctuary, Running Free and Iron Maiden are always longer live !

Or like the additional intro on DOD, Revelations and Where Eagles Dare live... If I'm not mistaken, they also shortened TAATG live

Hmmm I don't think they ever shortened that never ending intro on DOD.
So they shortened the intro on Revaluations and it never came to their minds that they need to shorten the intro on e.g. The Talisman!!???

Yup. Should OOTSP ever get played live again (it won't) I'd like to hear that intro though - I quite like it and find it as rather essential part of the song. I know that many don't feel it that way though. And yes, TAATG was shortened indeed. While I definitely agree that it was a good thing to do (same with the video/single edit), I think that the third verse should have been included somehow. While not Steve's finest work, I think the lyrics are far from being a weak point of the song and the I like the little "story" they carry on to the end. As I said, nothing too outstanding, but I don't consider them as bad lyrics in any way.

Back to the topic, Where Eagles Dare sounds very tight! It's actually pretty amazing, especially when you consider how some songs have been more or less sluggish on recent tours. Then again, the performances have been pretty outstanding thorough the tour now. I hope it's the same next year!

Well that would have meant skipping some lyrics. While I agree that The Talisman has a bit too long and monotone intro, I don't really see how it could be shortened, since the whole song is a story.
