How good is Killers on a scale of 1-10?

Anybody that know the original "Killers" lyrics? As you may know, the words sung on that track, on the album is a little different than the ones on their pre-Killers touring. I've got the "Live at the Rainbow"-video and "Invasion of Rarities" and on both of them there are these other lyrics that i would love to get if anybody knew them [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /]

From what I've heard, they are not proper lyrics. Paul was making them up as he was singing and they only sat down to write the lyrics when they had to record the song for the Killers album.

I don't know if all of this is true though...

The lyrics of the versions of Live At The Rainbow and Live At Reading are indeed different on one or two lines. I found the following lyrics posted on the Maiden BB - they're not completely correct either, but a good point to start:

IMO this is one of the best songs on the "Killers" album, because the solos and lyrics are both brilliant! I especially love the live version from the Maiden England video. Dave's guitar solo is brilliant, it's a masterpiece IMO.

The intro part is absolutely stunning, those bass sounds and Paul screaming - really great. A very good song, and a true classic.

take note that the lyrics variate between the performance at Reading 1980 (BBC Archives) and the Live At The Rainbow gig... mostly in order of the sung parts, but some more as well. Bellow is a mix of both versions, with each part only written once (you might have to trace the chorus a bit further down when Paul sings it that is...)

very very intresting version. did you make it out on your own or did you find it somewhere? Out of the hard-to-tell parts, the only one we can be sure about is the "you push numbers" which is subtitled on the early years DVD as such... but your version seems pretty tight. I will listen to it again when I get home and will come back to you...

when I hear that track, "atmospheric" is what comes to my mind first. Great track, eerie mood at the beginning that blasts into pure energy. It totally deserves to be the title track. 4,5 stars

There's no words which can describe how perfect Killers is. From the very hi-hat hit, the awesome bass line, the fierce and stunning screams (which Bruce never could make properly), passing from the astonishing "knife going down" riffs, the vocal melodies, to the fucking great solos (specially Dave's) and the gran finale with parts of the lyrics being repeated slightly different, this song is nothing but perfect. 6 6 6 stars !!!

The quintessential Paul song. Everything about this track screams early Iron Maiden. Steve sounds heavy, the guitars duel constantly throughout the song, and both Davey and H just murder it. Paul is on fire, and he gets into the sound too. And even Clive is great. It has raw energy in buckets, and to be honest, I don't think this song ever sounded the same with Bruce. It should, however, have been a live staple for Blaze. Aw well. 10/10. 11 if I could manage it.
As an aside, sorry for the lateness. A hurricane has knocked out my internet, so what I get sporadically may slow updates.

9. Visceral, menacing, wicked. Paul steals the show here, the way his voice was captured on this album, particulary on this song, is one of those moments where you just feel the power surging through your veins and soul, then you feel alive and killing!!! Classic!!!
