Judas Priest

In my view, Point of Entry is much closer in spirit to Turbo than to British Steel. It leans far more toward a commercial direction, or at least a more polished, radio-friendly approach. Not that British Steel wasn’t radio-friendly—but it was radio-friendly in the right way. To me, it never felt like a sellout. Point of Entry, on the other hand, comes across as trying too hard to chase that appeal, imo.

They have literally said they were trying to make British Steel 2.0, deliberately aiming for the the anthems too, which Azas rightly pointed out as ending up as being too forced.

I like “Desert Plains” and “Solar Angels.” If all of Point of Entry had been more in the vein of those two—desert-rock, vision-inducing songs—I would rate the album much higher. As it is, it feels more like a product made to appeal than a statement or a clear creative direction.
 
The only things they were aiming for in 1981 were alcohol and drugs haha. Music was the least interesting subject to Priest back then. The album could have been much better than what we got, but they weren't focusing on songwriting at all. The whole trip to Ibiza turned into a massive party. It's a miracle that despite all the circumstances they managed to record Desert Plains, perhaps my fav Priest tune ever. But it is what it is, a collection of cool tracks and absolutely uninspired songs forgotten by the band and its fans. Rob himself stated that he doesn't like PoE, which is rather rare. He usually feels attached to his albums, but this one is an exception. Can't say I don't understand him tho...
 
This Faithkeepers tour is curious (not the name) and has a mysterious art (only DOFT connection from their discography, they like to celebrate albums annivs). I doubt that's the name of their next album, even if most of the songs are ready, but who knows. The tour poster art (btw, the picture below is their new cover photo on social media -> I like the engraved graphics, it looks like an ancient seal, the color scheme too) could be another shield or wheel, but it could easily be a tease of a new cover. I would like it with more details, stuff and figure ofc, the imagination is triggered. Richie shared a post suggesting secret recordings (his solo project?), but iirc they will record the new album this year.

When was the last time they did a 1 leg unique tour (not counting the Reunion tour in 2004)? Assuming the new album will be out next year. Shield Of Pain was part of the IS tour.

edit: the (kind of, or?) full art reveals a creature that looks a bit similar to DOTF one?

Given the name of the band, it not so mysterious, don't you think ? As "Priest", they keep the faith.

Faithkeepers = (probably) hits + random songs tour.

I think it's a good idea to just go out and play a few dates, to keep Rob's voice in shape, if nothing else.
