Judas Priest

Safe as in revisiting decent old ground, maybe. As Perun said about Never The Heroes earlier, it's like they're now comfortable with being an older and more mellow band, and are playing on their strengths. They're far more likely to make a pig's ear trying to be daring and edgy.

What songs would you like to see on the setlist?
I would like to see Tyrant, Exciter, Saints in Hell, Delivering the Goods, Troubleshooter, Bloodstone, Riding on the Wind, The Sentinel, Rock Hard Ride Free.

Hmm . . . given the huge amounts of good press surrounding the album, I was expecting a couple more new songs (perhaps Spectre and Rising from Ruins). Some more stuff off Defenders or Painkiller would've been nice, but I guess there's only so many songs that can fit into 2-odd hours. Still, not a bad set.

There's actually a pretty good amount of lesser played stuff such as Running Wild, Grinder, Sinner, Bloodstone, Saints In Hell and Angel. Maiden could use a few pointers on that. Also, what I don't is that Rob will still sing Painkiller, but we don't get any new material with those kind of vocals. Just a taste here and there. Oh well.

I like that setlist. Especially happy about
Turbo Lover and Saints in Hell.
I hope they'll keep it that way for Hills of Rock.

Must resist ...... to not look at the setlist.

I should evade this topic for a while I'm afraid.

Still: do people eagerly order tickets now?

Damn I nailed it!
the 3 songs from Firepower they played are the 3 I told my son I thought they would play! However I was hoping for Necromancer as well but knew Priest would not have room for 4 new songs in the set.

There has been talk among the fans the past few years about Saints in Hell so that is VERY cool that Priest took notice! There was something in the back of my mind that said they might just do it but then I said "nah, they wouldn't...would they?"

PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM GLENN:

By now many of you will know I won't be doing the forthcoming Judas Priest tour because of health issues---I’m so sorry but four years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's and was told by my specialist that I had already had it for over ten years - I knew something was wrong with my co-ordination and fluency regarding my playing but I worked around it and battled on - I have good days and bad days but the disease is degenerative and I would never want to compromise the greatest metal band in the world---it was therefore during the last rehearsals I decided to step down and have Andy Sneap fill in---he's a great guy and I'm sure he'll do a great job - I'm sure the band will be as strong than ever

I have been overwhelmed by the massive support and love I’ve had from other artists and from fans all over the world and from many friends and metal maniacs out there - it's not the end for me - I’ll still be able to write and record and on good days even join the band on stage for a few songs - with new medication and advances being made who knows what the future holds - but one thing's for sure - it will certainly involve Priest!

Finally the biggest thanks goes to Rob, Richie, Ian and Scott who have stood by me and supported me through everything - GLENN

Interesting that Ritchie played Glenn's Painkiller solo, looks like him and Andy won't exclusively do just one original guitarists' solos.

Ritchie also did Glenn's solo in Some Heads Are Gonna Roll.

I actually haven't found a song yet where Andy plays a solo.

EDIT: Ritchie also did Glenn's solo in Grinder.

EDIT2: Andy did Glenn's solo in Angel.

I have been going back and forth on whether to go because of the Glenn stuff, but this set list has solidified it and I’ll be buying tickets this week.
