It's hard to say if we'll get a DVD from the Maiden England tour

Excellent. I am looking forward to the CD version as well! :)
The new 40 minute documentary sounds a bit short to me, but on the other hand it will "high"light a difficult period (e.g. Bruce burnt-out from LAD tour, no creativity left for SIT album, and Adrian probably talking about his problems with the lengthy tours; maybe they even speak about A.S.aP.?).

Bout fuckin' time! I'm so excited for this. Been waiting ages for it.

It took them this long to have it DVD ready, I don't want to wait like 8 more years for them to put it in HD too :P

Yea, it's probably a VHS transfer with some enhancing. LAD was the same way. Having it on Blu Ray would just be useless. I like that grainy 80's vhs style anyway:D

Edit; The video that is. There is probably a nifty 5.1 setting for it too

I don't think it would look right if it was super Blu-Ray HD enhanced anyway. Leave that to brand new releases, such as En Vivo where it was probably shot with those types of cameras to begin with.

I just watched the promo video for the dvd, if that's what the Maiden England concert will look like, they haven't managed to do much with the footage. I had hoped they had the original prints. Oh well.

But I have high hopes for the documentary, finally they'll be mentioning the serious problems that Adrian and Bruce started having. Which also makes me look forward to the next chapter in the History series, but that's going to be a long wait. :D

I don't even think a chapter on the nineties will come out.
And if it will come out, then only as a hidden bonus feature of 5-10 minutes.

I am not sure, I would think they will put something out, they did include a fair amount of 90s songs on the last "Best of" album. I doubt it will coincide with a tour for it, but I could see a Donnington release to at least cover No Prayer and Fear .. how much the Blaze era is included is another story, there is not really an iconic show/tour to base a DVD around.

They can't, with any credibility, have a "History" (series, or otherwise) of Iron Maiden --& not cover a particular period of Maiden's existence i.e. the 90's. This would be totally absurd. Surely they'll continue to release History DVDs, regardless of format, regardless of any associated tour, associated re-release, etc, or even the bands continued existence --until the very end? I mean, by the time a post-reunion (~1999/2000 onwards) part comes out (this could be 5-10 years away), it will be history. This would make sense, & doesn't (to me) seem particularly improbable.

What's new? They hardly pay attention to that decade in setlists as well. That best of album sounds like an excuse to say that they did pay attention to it (even though they excluded Blaze).

Look I am sure it will get some attention (come on, guys, HUMOR) in a way, but I honestly think a documentary won't be 40 minutes, not even if you count all four albums.

They have never mentioned this era, for a long time, so it would be a huge surprise if they suddenly would have no problems with that on a DVD.

As an example, ever seen this:
Guess which eras Kiss paid the least attention to.

Maiden might do 1990-2000, giving 20 minutes to 1990-1998 and 40 to 1999-2000.

I totally agree --I was just meaning, as I said, to have any credibility.

When you go & see Maiden live there's nothing compelling them to play any material, old or new, from any particular era. You want them to, but why should they? It's their setlist. Old argument. However, if you call something "The History of Iron Maiden" it's an utter dereliction of sense to omit, or skip over, an entire decade. They probably will, but this doesn't stop it being utter nonsense.

That said, the format has clearly slipped. Part one was very much "Part One", with extras. The extras being the tagged on part (--although of great interest.) When Live After Death came out on DVD, it was really the History (part 2) that was the tagged on part. Ditto, probably, this next part. So, who knows how later parts will pan out.

I just want a little bit of format consistency! :p

Well first of all, that Donington vhs has been prepared for DVD by Shirley. Even if it wasn't a popular era, that was a big show and they'll certainly release it. They might as well include a documentary. It probably won't talk about Blaze much, which sucks, but that's just how these things work. These bands don't want to dwell on their worst moments*, Rush did the same thing in their doc. The Hold Your Fire segment was less than a minute. Did they even mention Roll The Bones?

Also, something about the setlists. I see Maiden as a band that loves to play new material. They acknowledge their past but they like to focus on the present. Hence playing AMOLAD in its entirety. To please fans of older material, they play that too. Since the 90's isn't very popular, and they don't care to play any of it, why should they? To say they did? To please a few hardcore fans?

I don't think any era got snubbed. Those dvds are very well done. They put as much footage as possible on them, if an era was unrepresented it's probably because they couldn't get anything. Hell, they had Elder performances on there and they hate that album.
Also, they have a fourth dvd coming out, one that has footage that they missed the first time around.

* I say worst in terms of sales and popularity.

I thought the Kissology discs had quite a bit more material from their down years than I expected. Though in their case the down years were deserved with the very uneven quality of music they put out ... not to mention looking like trannies on the Asylum Tour
