Is that Eddie on the cover of TFF or not?

Travis The Dragon

AFTERGLOW!!!
Melvyn Grant says that it's not Eddie. However, it's the same monster that Maiden brought on stage on the recent tour which makes me believe it is in fact Eddie. It has to be Eddie because Maiden doesn't bring anyone else on stage. I wonder why Melvyn says it's not.

I don't have a link myself, but there was a link to an interview with Melvyn before the album was released where he hinted that it wasn't really Eddie.  I think it's bull shit.  No matter what form Eddie takes, he's Eddie.

There are some really interesting pencil sketches (at leas, that's what they look like) in the cd-booklet that comes with TFF.  In those, the eddie-space-monster on the cover is shown in a number of guises/manifestations.  In a couple of these, the traditional Eddie is shown as well (riding a weird space-worm-monster-eddie-thing from what I can tell.)  They're kinda small and hard to make out, but I'm pretty sure that the traditional Eddie is shown there along with the new space-Eddie.  No idea what it means, but was kinda fun to see...

This may be nothing, but I noticed on the cover that the dead alien-type-astronaut beings look oddly similar to Eddie, especially aroud the nose.

Yeah, I noticed that myself today. Could it be that that there is a whole world of Eddie type beings killing each other........

One of the new sketches does suggest that Eddie is procreating and has spawned a new Eddie-like-foetus.

I think these are not manifestations, but simply artwork Melvyn Grant or somebody else has made to get an idea for the new Eddie of The Final Frontier, and they simply decided to put this on the booklet. In the same manner when they're making a new movie or video game, they first put their ideas onto sketches and drawings. So I think these are simply the first Ideas they had for the new Eddie of the new outer space theme.

Maybe he said that under pressure of all of the fans always complaning about how Eddie looks like. "THAT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE EDDIE!!" is what I always seem to hear when a new incarnation of Eddie appears on a cover.

Anybody watched the Final Frontier video? The main character actually calls him Eddie there, and he looks exactly like what appears on the cover.

This is exactly what I thought.

Yep.  I'm getting the feeling that Grant thought it wasn't Eddie, but the band seems to think otherwise...

Call me cracked, but I have a theory about the new Eddie, and it stems from that sketch of the more traditional Eddie with the alien woman and fetus. In that sketch, it looks like Eddie has taken something out from himself, perhaps his heart (?), and is contemplating it. It could be then that he imparts whatever essential part of him this is to the alien fetus in order for there to be a newer, tougher, alien version of himself to take on the missions in outer space for which an Eddie from Earth would be insufficient (?). So in a sense, it is Eddie, and not quite, at the same time. I think Melvyn Grant said it was an alien on the cover, so this could explain why this version of Eddie does, in fact, look so alien. Still, only a theory.

I think that this is just the same old Eddie, only he's from the far future (even later than the SIT Eddie, which is the most "future" Eddie we know of). This Eddie has gone through some sort of evolution process, or mutation - perhaps some time between the SIT Eddie period and TFF Eddie period then he was sent into outer space and has gone through some sort of mutation. This is what I imagine.

Wow! That was even more spectacular than what we had in Bergen! And when Dave crossed axes with Eddie that was pure awesome! I really like it that they let him play guitar, this is really nice, reminding us all he's really the 7th member of the band :)

There's one prominent difference, though, between the new Eddie and the older ones, to which I have just took notice: The new Eddie has only 4 fingers! This is true for the cover artwork, and for the live Eddie! :o

The only thing that makes it look like Eddie is the nose lol. That's the one thing Eddie has always had in every other cover...the same nose.
