Iron Maiden's worst song (AKA the Head to Head results thread)

I'd agree with most of the "WTF" comments, although personally I don't think The Mercenary is up to much. The Pilgrim this low is certainly a surprise. And I really, really like the uplifting middle section in Como Estais Amigo, although the rest of the track is just okay; so a little disappointed with the position, although not surprised. Not that I don't rate them, but I'm (too) surprised more IM & Killers tracks haven't appeared.

Most of you know I used the results of the Iron Maiden Survivor to do the seeding for this game.
Head to head was set up in such a way that lower seeded songs could (and did) make significant climbs above their starting point.
But for songs that survived two rounds in Survivor, it was tough to make a significant drop.
In fact, it was impossible to finish lower than 96.
I point to number 96 above.
Charlotte the Harlot finished in 96th despite losing every matchup. The only win for Twilight Zone, at 94, was against Charlotte.
I would suggest that being on the first two albums in Survivor gave these two songs a misleading seeding.
And under a different seeding formula we would have seen both ranked significantly lower.
 
Woooah. Too many good songs to even mention it separately as unfair-treated :) Twilight Zone, Charlotte, Sun and Steel... They could be even lower. But the rest? Judas, Face, Prophecy, Journeyman... All of them are BEYOND amazing. Yes. Judas too, the best track from FotD ;)
 
Sun and Steel is awesome. I suppose I'm satisfied that it got into the top 100. The song is too underrated.

Well, I guess it's getting harder from now on, because many of the songs from the top 100 are pretty much close in terms of value. I am surprised to see some of the songs here (Prophecy, Journeyman, Sun and Steel, Judas, Face in the Sand) but then again, if you think of what is still to come, you shouldn't be surprised.:)

I have to point out The Alchemist, The Final Frontier, Different World and Out of the Shadows, all of which started the game among the bottom seeds and rose to top 90 positions.
There is just one other song from that group still to come.
 
Thin Line and Lord of Light are too low and it's not even a matter of taste... :P Come on, they are just better than that! I've heard, that people don't like Thin Line. It surprised me a lot, but Lord of Light? I've alway thoutht it's one of AMoLaD favourites.

From personal point of view I would like to see The Final Frontier and Different World much higher, but it's quite understandable this way.
 
Journeyman is the only song I'm absolutely stunned about. I thought the song was really well-liked by virtually everybody. Such a shame to see it finish so low.

A lot of my favorites have finished low as well, but I'm not surprised. Even though Thin Line is in my top 2, I didn't expect it to go very far (though it is lower than I expected). I find all of the AMOLAD songs that have been listed to be way too low. I don't think a single song from that album deserves below the top 60 mark, to be quite honest. It's not my favorite album, but it has to be the most solid album in Maiden's catalog. I know I'm generalizing, but to me, it feels like if you like one song from the album, you like 'em all, and it's hard to distinguish a favorite because they're all so on par with each other. The only other album from anybody that measures up to that kind of solidity is Bruce's Tyranny of Souls.

Some songs I expected to finish exactly where they were, but would've liked to see higher (from the past two rounds):

- CHILDHOOD'S END
- The Prophecy
- Sun and Steel
- Wasting Love
- Man on the Edge

I knew these would finish at around this point or lower, but I don't know. I probably listen to these tracks more than most of Piece of Mind or Powerslave. Maybe they're not high quality, but I just find myself coming back to these tracks a ton. Childhood's End, though, I feel is quality enough to have at least cracked the top 50, but I get that it's not well-liked and that it takes some getting used to... and that there are tons of excellent Maiden songs that people simply prefer.
