Hmm, maybe more like half.
But Pilgrim, Angel and Mercenary are more or less in the right neighbourhood.

I can't agree, mate :) I would say, that the lower part of the top half of the ranking would be fine for these songs. IMO.

Bloody hell, watching this ranking coming to life is more interesting than I thought. :p

HCW is way to low, as well as Madness. The two No Prayer songs are a bit too high (beating Pilgrim, Fallen Angel and Mercenary? Come on...). Well, and as far as I'm concerned, we've got the first TFF song, which is Mother of Mercy. I don't have a big problem with that... It's my least favourite from that album.

(and I'm with you on Madness. Not among their best, but seriously undervalued on this forum.)
 
I'm pleasantly surprised that Mother of Mercy was the first to go from TFF. I actually expected The Alchemist. The Alchemist has grown on me a ton, though, so I'm glad it'll at least be top 100.
 
When Two Worlds Collide - #43 for me. Clearly a disappointment to see it so low, but not unexpected.
Fortunes of War - #89 for me. A bit lower than I would hope. I think it is a dark, moody, strong song.
Lightning Strikes Twice - #82 for me. Again, lower than I would hope. I agree that the chorus is terrible, but I find it to be a decent song, if not great. An early favourite of mine when I was learning Maiden, so perhaps that bumps it up a bit in my personal ranking.
Can I Play With Madness - #79 for me. Lower than I would want, but I really don't care, as I have little attachment to the song.
Back in the Village - #122 for me. Did better than I would have thought. It has some interesting guitar work but it sounds like Bruce had just sang Aces High before recording it and blew out his voice.
Heaven Can Wait - #111 for me. About correct. This is a boring piece of poppy drek (like too much of CSIT sounds like). Glad it got put in its place.
Tailgunner - #121 for me. Again, surprised it went so far. It is a not-so-good song on a not-so-good album.
Fates Warning - #126 for me. See above.
Montsegur - #112 for me. When DoD first came out, I thought this was a decent track, but it slipped hard. It is too happy, and Bruce is strained. Not a fan, glad it is ranked low.
Mother of Mercy - #119 for me. Clearly the worst song off of TFF, and I am glad to see it so reflected.

Heaven Can Wait is boring, and it is certainly poppy. It sounds entirely like the rest of SiT to me.
 
I need to come up with a ranking list. I think I am motivated after the tour to do a full catalog listen.
 
Heaven Can Wait is easily the worst song on an otherwise great album. I'm pretty fond of Fates Warning, but I didn't really expect it to do so well anyway so I'm not disappointed. I think Mother of Mercy is a cool song, underrated.

I would hazard a guess that most the voters HAVE seen it live... and heard it live more times than they want to count.

Nothing too surprising this round other than Montsegur which I thought was a little more favoured around here and perhaps that I expected a few songs to be lower.

Listening to the current bottom ranks, I don't think the Apparition deserves the worst spot. Fear is the Key is one I didn't think too badly of but once it hits the faster bit I start to dislike it these days, and I would certainly place Apparition higher than that.

Re: Wildest Dreams... I don't get how people can complain about repetitive chorus when things like Trooper / Longest Day are revered so highly with their choruses... (the latter of which I actually like EXCEPT the chorus). I would include something like HCW in that but it clearly isn't anywhere high ;)

This. I wouldn't be surprised if most people feel similarly actually, it seems like I come across this opinion fairly often.
 
I don't have a problem with the repetitiveness of the chorus. I just don't like the way it's sung very much. I do like the Trooper and the Longest Day a lot, though.:p
