I think the people "immediately hating overplayed songs" thing is a myth. Look at The Trooper, that song is doing just fine. Hallowed gets played on nearly every tour and consistently makes the top ten, usually winning the whole thing.

I think it's more that Fear of the Dark is a mediocre song that is only salvaged by how good it is live. That studio version really shows how weak of a song it is on its own IMO.

That's true and I think this is ultimately the reason why so many songs become "overplayed" in the first place. Most of the time the staples deliver, no matter how many times I've heard them live.
 
Good to see Alexander the Great finally doing pretty well after being underrated in Survivors for years. Hope it makes the Top 10 this time.
