I don't buy into all the hate for 'The Fugitive' like certain other members do, but I'm not al that fond of it. It's a hell of a lot better than 'The Assassin' and 'The Apparition' but there's no need for it to continue into the next round in my opinion.

I've probably said it before but I appreciate the 90's era of Maiden since its apart of their history but I'm not overly fond of it. There are some songs from that era that are great!

Plus, there's something very important missing from the 90's... :p

Fear is the Key (one of the two worst Maiden songs ever)
The Fugitive
Chains of Misery (DON'T COUNT THIS ONE) I forgot that the solo is awesome
The Apparition
Weekend Warrior

1) AtSS is not that great
2) NPftD has tons of cool songs
3) FotD has plenty of rubbish, but some really good songs

That's not the only reason why I'm not so fond of the 90's era....but it possibly may have a very small micro bit to do with it? :D
You know what, I'm gonna be totally honest: The lack of H really hurts the 90's albums for me. I don't know if having him in the fold would've improved them all that much, but still, he's sorely missed. His style and sound play such a huge role in Maiden, not to mention all the songs he helped write, that it just feels like there's something missing. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of the 90's material, the two Blaze albums are great (even Virtual XI) and No Prayer is fun but there's something magical about the four albums that came before them.

I did re-listen to these albums yesterday and my opinion still stands on them. FOTD was slightly better this time around, but not enough for me to take back any of my votes.

Well then, maybe I'm not that crazy for making Adrian one of the key reasons for not liking the 90's that much. I agree with all you have said there.

Still choosing what to vote for, but I'm always struck by the suddenly H-less sound, there's certainly something missing, no disrespect to Janick. It doesn't strike me as much in the Blaze era albums, though. I can't decide if that's because I look at Maiden in a completely different light in this era, or if the Dave and Janick combination was just slightly better suited to the Blaze era music. Probably perception more than anything.

On the first two albums with Janick, I get the impression that he was trying to find his place in the band; his playing is a lot different than on Tattooed Millionaire and he almost sounded like another Dave. He has a much more distinct sound on the Blaze albums (imo) and a lot of his songwriting and soloing styles that are still present today start to really come out there.

I think The X Factor is the only 90s album that doesn't feel the need to have the presence of Adrian Smith. Adrian's style is very bombastic. It makes the band sound glamorous, huge, all over the place. X Factor is a very deep, earthened and modest album. It probably wouldn't hurt to have H, but it wouldn't contribute as much.

Agreed throughly.
