Yep. And they are very noticeable because some smartass (probably Steve) decided to place them all in a row.Fillers... Powerslave ...
So do I. It's one hell of a board. And being so nothing's safe (apart from a handful of songs).I do, yes.
I agree, Powerslave has the biggest gaps in quality between songs, but only because of how iconic the other four are. I've had days where I enjoyed Flash of the Blade more than Aces High.Yep. And they are very noticeable because some smartass (probably Steve) decided to place them all in a row.
That depends. If you compare them to anthems such as Aces High, Rime or the title track I agree they're not on the same level. But calling them fillers is a bit too far don't you think? My notion of "filler" is a subpar song or a leftover featured in the album with the sole propose of adding playing time. And IMO those 4 songs are much more than that.Yep. Precisely. Now that "I've had days where I enjoyed Flash of the Blade more than Aces High" is pure heresy... Penitentiate!!!I agree, Powerslave has the biggest gaps in quality between songs, but only because of how iconic the other four are. Yeah, that's how many fans see it. However in my opinion Back in the Village and especially Losfer Words are very subpar songs for Maiden. FOTB and the Duellists are definitely good songs though, but even they pale in comparison for example to Deja-Vu or Sea of Madness, which are also similarly filler-like songs. That depends. Now this might be blasphemy, but I'll actually take The Duellists over 2 Minutes. Not that 2MTM is a sub standard song by any stretch, that's just how much I love The Duellists. The Duellists is by far the best of the fillers in the middle of Powerslave. I hope it's not the first one to get kicked out.
Curiously enough Back In The Village and Sea Of Madness may be my favorite songs from the ones you mentioned. But man... I like the single one of them. Those songs plus 3 more songs people count as "fillers" like The Prophecy, and Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner and Only The Good Die Young would make an album that would rank among my 10 favorite albums without shadow of doubt.Yeah, that's how many fans see it. The third variations of the main line of the bass are a touch of class (yet so simple). Plus the degree of difficulty of Bruce's performance (breath and pitch wise) is off the charts. The Duellists is mesmerizing song with a great instrumental break.
Way too unique (and good) to ever be called ”filler”
Similar here... the ones I prefer from what's left are:Powerslave - Aces High, Powerslave and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Somewhere In Time - Caught Somewhere In Time, Wasted Years, Stranger In A Strange Land
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son - Infinite Dreams, The Evil That Men Do, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Moonchild is a worthy one of the promotion, as are both Alexander and Sea Of Madness, The Clairvoyant is good but sadly it is on an album which have 4 songs which are better in my opinion. Regardless of how someone will be disapointed something didn't get in.Similar here... the ones I prefer from what's left are:
Aces High, Powerslave, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, Caught Somewhere In Time, Wasted Years, Sea Of Madness, Moonchild, Infinite Dreams and The Clairvoyant.
