Killing Joke are a band I know nothing about other than the name- although they must of been roughly contemporaneous with Maiden. When reading about the guitarist who died over the w-e I came across this pic, so Bruce presumably knew who they were:

Not only does Bruce know who Killing Joke are (by the way, very influential band), but he also interviewed Jaz Coleman in one of his BBC radio shows back in the noughties. It was an interesting interview and they ended up discussing monarchy. Jaz made the point of a Republic with an elected president being a preferable amd much more democratic system than one with an unelected hereditary Head. Bruce, a monarchist, was only able to talk about Cromwell to defend the establishment’s status quo.
