Love the band photo on The Wicker Man! Also, I like the comic-book style art on The Final Frontier (Single), way better than the album version.

It’s because it was released three different ways. Different bonus tracks on different CD releases, similar to “The Angel and the Gambler” and “The Wicker Man”.
I see. Eeeh, how the singles have fallen since 2006, it was fun with b-sides, live stuff and more (small) arts that add to the world of the albums.
I didn’t want to get too bogged down into all the art from the band because I figured the game was already long enough. The only non-cover art I included is Riggs’s “Futureal” poster and the “Tailgunner” Eddie, since I always felt like the fans embraced them as though they were actual single art.
But I’m also here to do the will of the people so if everyone wants album sleeve art etc I can add it. I just also can’t see any of it going far in the game, though.
Yeah, the game will be long, but it's curious to have them all. Idk, only the official covers is probably right. I think some have a good chance to go far in the game. Btw, iirc Steve said that the Tailgunner art could easily have been an album cover.
Stuff like:

SJ(battlefield scene)
SJ (in front of the castle with the knife, included in the 50th book)
SJ (Eddie with the arrow, the red background, Nicko used it for his drum kit)... an all additional arts for the album
maybe all the arts with Eddies in the booklets
maybe all the different backdrops for some songs with Eddie?
TBOS (the green one with the pyramid), plus the other two
Tailgunner
Futureal poster
The Clansman
Clairvoyant (2nd art)
Hooks In You
DOD (original cover)
NPFTD (the art with the hammer)
These Colours Don't Run
Live After Death (original cover)
maybe the arts from the POM comic book
the arts from BOTB booklet (Eddie with the key, the other Lord Of The Flies art, judge Eddie, reaper Eddie, the rejected A Real Live One art from Derek)

...
Somewhere Back in Time is just a rehash of the Best of the Beast and a few other ideas where they "revisit" previous ideas
A bad rehash and not needed (unlike for BOTB ). At least FFTE is better, even the 2011 Christmas card has some cool little ideas. It would have been great for a booklet, the Eddie in front of the train too (who is still curious with the house behind him). I would like to see an extended version of it - and for the other albums.
way better than the album version.
Wow. I think it was right not to use it as a main album cover.

This one? It sucks, imo.

According to the Riggs book, Run For Cover, here's how things went for this artwork....

Derek was never really happy with the figure but the band wanted Eddie coming out of the grave this way.

It was accepted and sent to the photographers. The piece was done in oil which is shiny and the photographers couldn't get the shine off the shot to send to the printers.

Photographs were taken because if you sent the original it inevitably got stolen or mangled in some way.

So he had to do a second piece. And the world is glad he did.

Derek often talks about being on a tight deadline for Eddie's, like commissioned on the Thursday, due on the Monday but that was not the case for LAD.

Regards LAD being overrated, well, aye it probably is but back in the day it was rightly lauded. For me, pretty much every song has a better live version released since 1985 and I find Bruce borderline unlistenable at times on LAD. But still, in context and as a whole thing, it's epic as fuck.

But I never seek it out other than to have a gender at the gatefold cover from time to time. Ok, I don't do that but my point is that although each individual song has been bettered, it shall never be forgotten, the art, the stage show, the set list, boooooosh.

LAD better set list and stage show than Flight 666, Flight 666 better versions of the relevant songs, thats probbaly my opinion.

You’re right that most of the songs may have been bettered, but even then the flow and energy is incredible. Also it’s got easily the best version of “Flight of Icarus”!

It was the only full live album they ever released during the entire 80s. It's legendary. The next full live album Maiden did after Live After Death was A Real Live One.

This is true but Maiden England always counted for me as we had the VHS upon release in 89 and I got the CD when it came out in like 94 so it was always a part of the pantheon to me.

Aye, I probably agree on that one, given Nights of the Dead sound issues.

I suppose I prefer the meatier feel of latter day live Maiden in comparison to LAD.
