Iron Maiden Album Art Showdown

3 "The Clairvoyant" +3
2 Powerslave +2
1 A Matter of Life and Death +1

0 Behind the Iron Curtain
0 Ed Hunter
0 "Women in Uniform"

Way better round! I think we can write off Behind the Iron Curtain and Ed Hunter, but otherwise these are some classic Iron Maiden covers. "Women in Uniform" is probably one of the weaker early day covers IMO. Meanwhile, I have always had a major love for "The Clairvoyant" - at one point I think I considered it my favorite of all their covers - and because I have a feeling that Powerslave will completely run away with this, I'm gonna give "The Clairvoyant" the extra point. Powerslave obviously could win this whole game, it's such an incredible cover. Meanwhile I kinda think that AMOLAD is a bit of an underrated album cover. That tank is awesome.

What a mess, in 5 minutes I went from "surely I'm giving 3 to AMOLAD" to this. I think Powerslave is kind of overrated (guess we'll see), but it does look pretty good in the end. I always thought Women in Uniform is very memorable actually. I even think Ed Hunter is okay. I think a lot, I think.

Why do I always see these fun and interesting game threads well after they are created?
You only missed three out of the first twenty ladders! There's plenty of the game left to join in on! I missed the early parts of MindRuler's album cup and I still had a great time once I started participating.

Promoted to Round 2:
Beast over Hammersmith - 9 points

Eliminated from the Tournament:
"Out of the Silent Planet" [alt.] - 8 points
Ahh, so close. OOTSP would have been stronger in the next rounds.

Easy round.

Powerslave is timeless and one of the best covers of all time! It can win the whole game. AMOLAD is a really impactful cover with noticeable details (best). The Clairvoyant is mystical and that is its greatest strength.

Ed Hunter Eddie isn't bad at all, but the cover could have had a much better background. Woman In Uniform isn't among the best early covers.

Love The Clairvoyant's art and I actually gave it more points than Powerslave which speaks a lot!

The Powerslave artwork is GRAND. It speaks volumes without screaming at you — hello Somewhere in Time — in other words, less is more. I’m not too fond of AMOLAD’s color scheme (gray — brrr). I get that it’s necessary/suitable for depicting a war, but still. But it’s better arranged as a complete image than the classic The Clairvoyant cover. Women in Uniform is good.
It's certainly my favourite cover from all of SSOASS singles.
What? CIPWM is GLORIOUS. (We’re judging covers, not the songs themselves.)

Ooooh, tactical voting to give Women a chance to progress, controversial.

An honest vote would see Women get 1 point, behind Powerslave and Clairvoyant. AMOLAD is ok, fair play for shaking it up with Edward in the background but it just never struck me too deep.

Maybe everyone's different but to me Clairvoyant seems like a rare or lesser spotted Eddie. Even from the time. In our house we had 7th Son album and poster, Evil poster, Madness single and t shirt, Maiden England VHS and poster but nothing of The Clairvoyant and over the years I've seen it much less than the others. Anyone else? No? Don't care? Ok.

Powerslave has always been special, hasn't it? From the colour and positioning of the band logo to the grand scope of the whole thing. If we're talkin t shirts I'd sooner wear a Clairvoyant one but as a thing to look at, Powerslave for the win.

Women In Uniform is classic. It's from the streets yo, continuing the Thatcher theme, Maggies Revenge. I'm glad Maiden didn't stick with this style of art, a bit laddish maybe, but for what it is and when it's from I'd like to see it progress.

That one's easy. Powerslave is iconic. The Clairvoyant, continues the theming of the SSOASS singles and is thus an easy second spot. Always had a soft spot for AMOLAD (was my first tour shirt I ever bought!), so that one's third place.

Behind the Iron Curtain is essentially disqualified for me, not a fan of the covers that are just pictures from a live show.
Women in Uniform does nothing for me, Ed Hunter despite being ugly '90s CGI is a bit better.

I think Powerslave is kind of overrated (guess we'll see), but it does look pretty good in the end.
I’ve been in the same boat and what I discovered is that for me it depends on resolution. I love the cover if you blow it up real big.

Yeah, it’s pretty easily the weakest of the three single covers IMO. But we’ll see how it does in about nine rounds.

Maybe everyone's different but to me Clairvoyant seems like a rare or lesser spotted Eddie. Even from the time. Maybe it’s down to the fact that CIPWM and TETMD are the more iconic singles from that album? If it wasn’t for that cover which I love, I’d forget “The Clairvoyant” was even a single since it’s buried so deep into the record.
