Iron Maiden 2026 Nominees Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

I really don't care for either way.

I understand the point raised in this topic about the induction of Maiden potentially adding up to the band's product & metal as genre, but at the same time, however, I kind of question its significance too. Like, outside the annual headlines of this and that band being nominated/inducted to this "Hall of Fame", I fail to see how much it really solidifies and contributes to the market value and status of these bands and artists in the end. I don't think Iron Maiden, or most of the bands mentioned in these RRHOF discussions, are any more or less remembered whether or not they are inducted to this "Hall of Fame." Their legacy & popularity, Maiden's especially, is built on everything but this Hall of Fame nonsense.

I doubt that the ceremony itself brings that many new listeners either, but I could also be terribly wrong. Just speaking from my experience, as a Hall of Fame induction or the lack of it has had zero significance on my listening habits or the amount of attention this or that band/artist has received from me. All the people I ever talk about music with have agreed on this too. But we might very well be in the minority!

Generally, you are right, but we think about States - it's an American market, accolade, and mentality. This year IM has a real chance to be inducted with the other 7 or 8 artists.

I think it's now or never this year. They are on their 50th anniversary tour in the US this year so that's a plus I think. But they've fallen way behind in the fan vote I see. Last two times they finished in the top 7. It's still early though. If I recall if they finish in the top 7 that gets them one official ballot towards induction.

WIll be interesting to see what happens if they do get inducted. I suspect it will be the same kind of induction that Priest got though. Would be funny if only Dennis shows up. (I could see Nicko being there as well)

I know its the RnR HoF but I never not liked seeing Maiden get awards/accolades/props whether they cared about it or not. I consider it justification since the US radio largely ignored them.

Yes, I think they have a real chance this year. They completely ignored the nomination and the award, but - as we know, they are just the sole metal artist on the list! Probably fan votes won't help them (metal/rock fans just ignoring that), but they probably will be awarded the same as Priests - with a special accolade. My fingers are crossed, they have just deserved it!

I honestly would have a ton of respect for the band if they snubbed it and never turned up to accept the award if they get it.

Everyone knows the RRHOF is a joke the way they pick and choose who they want in there and no one who’s a proper music fan gives a toss about it.

I mean, Maiden have have had a superb career without being inducted so why should it make any difference to them now if they are. I can’t see a load of new people going “oh look Iron Maiden are in the RRHOF, I might give them a listen now”.

If they had been inducted say 20 or so years ago I can understand them using it to promote themselves and tours but after 50 years does it really matter. It’s like an actor winning an Oscar, if they win it when their young it might propel their careers and earnings potential but if they get one around age 70 does it really mean anything.

Dennis and Blaze gatecrashes to try and sell a few T-shirts (as he did when I saw Dianno and KKs Priest play at KKs steel mill a couple of years ago was outside in the lobby trying to flog his merch.....)

You're not American though? Lol.

They broadcast the ceremony so they potentially could pick up some new interest here in the States. Mind you there are still folks in the US that think Maiden is some kind of horror/satanic band. They don't understand or realize what they are really about.

I wouldn't care one way or the other if they snub it or not if they actually get inducted. People can change their feelings/ideals, especially when they get older. Not saying Bruce did this but some folks will slag something off if they don't win something or things don't go their way - "I didn't get the job but it's not a good company anyway" kind of thing.

And again, they really should just change the name to the Music HoF

I’m not American no. Whilst I understand it’s a big market the world does not start and end with the USA.

My point stands, does Maiden at this point in their career, over 50 years since they started, need any more fans than they already have? Sure a few more fans won’t hurt but they’ve just played to their biggest audiences of their entire career with the first run of the RFYL tour selling out stadiums.

For the pure fact they aren’t including blaze id like the band to snub this. Every member on an official recorded release apart from blaze gets the nod just doesn’t feel right to me. If the RRHOF changed their minds and included Blaze and the band changed their minds and accepted the award if they got in then I’d be fine with that.

I wasn't implying that at all. Just a little joke saying I think Americans who are not fans might be more inclined to check Maiden out if they see them on the HoF ceremony, more so if some influencer says they're cool, heh.

I could see them refusing an induction because Blaze is not included. FWIW the nomination is not mentioned on their official website and I haven't seen anything on their social media, so that should tell us something.

Bingo. Run For Your Lives is shaping up to be their biggest tour in the states ever. They don't need the rub.
