1981. Iron Maiden set foot on the ground in the Land of the Free, for the first time. As we know, 35 years have passed by and our favourite band still hits the U.S.
I made an overview of all the states Maiden have visited in chronological order. For the first time that is. Every time when a state is listed, it means that Maiden made their debut out there. Naturally, I am not listing all concerts, that's been done before. This is just a little filter, focusing on state and chronology.

Most states were covered for the first time in 1981 and 1982. Afterwards, "only" 8 more were done.

Maiden have played in 44 U.S. states. That automatically means, they have never played in 6. Which are these? Find out below! And fill in the poll, if you've ever been to (a) Maiden concert(s) in the States!

On a somewhat related note, there was one tour Metallica did in the 80's during which they realised they had covered 49 out of 50 states, and only a New England state was missing - Delaware or New Hampshire, I think. When they saw that, they added a date there just for the sake of it, even though they had to go for a tiny venue.

All in that same tour? Wow. I like such trivia!

Who knows Rod might have attempted to reach Alaska and South Dakota as well because Maiden hadn't been there yet.

I wonder why Montana was never done. This is probably due to my lack of knowledge of these states. Also: this:

Are these states generally seen as in the middle of nowhere areas?

Yes. Basically, a state's likelyhood to be visited by a band like Iron Maiden is proportional to how often you hear about them in pop culture. California, NY, Florida? All the time. Texas, Nevada? Most of the time.

When was the last time you saw a tv show set in Idaho?

^this
The only thing that Idaho has is potatoes and the Pacific Northwests largest theme park. Everything else is farmland. So I'm really surprised Maiden played there.

And my guess for why Montana was never done is because there is no Metal scene. The city of Billings is big enough but the only people that live there are Upper class old people. No one likes metal there.

Scream for me, Billings!

Nope, can't see that catching on. Then again, "Scream for me, Boise!" doesn't really have a ring to it either.

It's called The Grinder and it is currently on Fox. :D

Collin's on point. These states have little to no metal scene, but they also have far fewer people in general - Idaho has 1.6 million people, Montana just over 1 million people in the whole state! Comparatively, the city of Chicago has upwards of 2.7 million people, New York has 8.4 million, and the greater Los Angeles area has 18.5 million people! Even if the metal scene isn't massive in those places, you're still pretty much guaranteed to sell more tickets.
