Iced Earth

Ok, I was mistaken. My bad. He still took these animals off of death row so our taxpayer dollars can keep them alive for the rest of their pathetic insectoid lives. They deserve death; there was no reason for Grandpa Joe to hurt the victims’ families even more.
Not even gonna touch the dehumanizing language (remember when you were whining about Trump supporters being called garbage? ;) ), but you should know that death row is literally more expensive than keeping people locked up with life sentences. So, if you care about taxpayer dollars you should be happy with fewer people being executed, since that is saving more money.

Dehumanizing language when referring to murderers is acceptable. But even I wouldn’t call the Bidenites and Kamalacrats garbage; they’re just tragically misinformed. There’s enough hate in the world. :)

If murderers were executed swiftly (read: less than one year), costs could be cut significantly.

lol, lmao even.

As they used to say in my dad's village: And if my grandma had her vagina on her back she'd be a piggy bank. Hypotheticals are useless; the fact of the matter is that death row costs more money than life sentences. Since you care about taxpayer money you need to give Biden credit for saving money within a busted system. That's what integrity's about, giving credit where credit's due ;)

Also, considering how often we've seen stories of innocent people spending decades in prison or even being executed due to various errors (or sometimes corruption) in the legal processes, maybe it's better that it takes time until people are executed.

As a staunch opponent of the death penalty, I disagree. He didn't go far enough in pardons. Nobody should be executed. Also it's cheaper to house people forever than to do the series of appeals that are mandatory in death penalty cases, so it's also not a financial concern.

The good thing about Iced Earth: talk about them, and the idiots in the crowd expose themselves.

The fact alone that a few executed convicts have been proven innocent after the fact, or that there is strong evidence to support their innocence should be enough for everybody to be against the death penalty.

This website here lists these executed convicts. There is strong evidence to suggest innocence in all of these cases.

The death penalty (in my opinion of course) is a barbaric and outdated practice. You are putting your trust in the government and the legal system to work flawlessly and never make a single mistake. Because if they do make mistakes that means you are okay with innocent people being executed as collateral damage, as long as the "right" criminals are killed. As Yax pointed out right above my comment, there are far too many instances of people being wrongfully executed.

It's morbidly fascinating how the same group of people who is the first to criticize the government and doesn't trust it on any other matter, is the group that supports the death penalty and somehow thinks easily corrupted systems are to be trusted with the lives of citizens. And with fascinating I mean horrifying, hypocritical and betraying a massive sense of bloodlust.

Anyway, while I don't purchase IE stuff anymore, I do still listen to them. The Dark Saga and Something Wicked are perfect 10s, and Alive in Athens is probably my favorite live album.

Same. I don't listen to them on purpose anymore though. I have my mp3 player on shuffle and if they come on, I'll listen, but I don't specifically look for their stuff or play their CDs at home anymore. Used to go back to Horror Show and Alive in Athens.

To each their own, Jon Schaffer might not be the brightest bulb BUT The Dark Saga is a great album, Dante's Inferno has many great ideas and riffs, The Wicked Trilogy and Gettysburg are great as well, and Alive in Athens is one of my favorite heavy metal live albums (its version of Travel in Stygian is definitive). I also like to go back to Horror Show (Damien <3). Also, The Coming Curse's riff is HUGE.

Separating the artist from his art, his right hand stamina used to be insane. Alive in Athens is a physical testimony, before artistic, to their prowess.

So, I woke up to this

I dunno man, I'm a little more than halfway through and I do intend to hear him all the way through, but it's getting rough. The cliff notes are he found Jesus (of course), humanity is in a state of freefall and the only man who can save us is anti-establishment hero Donald Trump, fake covid was the single worst case of US government overreach in history (not sure how Trump is seperated from that one), the 2020 election was stolen, he's being silenced by the fake news media, right now he's heavily implying Jan 6th was orchestrated by deep state provocateurs, he was only wearing a tactical vest and carrying bear mace when he accidentally wandered into the Capitol building in case he needed to protect himself, and the only thing he knows about the Oathkeepers is that they sent him a hat 15 years ago.

When he issued his apology I was here defending him, talking about how he genuinely sounded like he knew he fucked up and was going to grow from it, and how people deserve second chances. Now that the pardon came through he's singing a different tune all together. Maybe he'll win me back in the second half somehow, but thus far it's been a real bummer to listen to.

So, yeah, I was a bit on the fence - I mean, as far as I'm concerned, all MAGA can go to Hell, but I don't like to assess violent mob according to how much I align with their ideology and I do think many people there might have gotten mob-brainwashed and a tad crazy in the moment and fucked up without thinking of the consequences (which is why I don't want to see them hang, lol, what the fuck is wrong with this forum?). I thought Schaffer might have been one of those.

And I expected him to keep toeing the line, being apologetic, realising he had fucked up and making amends.
Oh well.

If you find Jesus, that's excellent, mate, I just wish it wasn't the Kentucky Fried Jesus. If you found the actual real deal, you wouldn't just blame others, you would be converted, you would be pious, you would realise that through you the entire world is guilty, to paraphrase Brothers Karamazov.

EDIT: this is not meant to talk about politics, this is exclusively meant as IE-related.

To be fair, his mainstream career is over so what else is there to do besides "find Jesus" and try to get in on the right-wing grift machine?

Well, I suppose at least I can take Dante's Inferno as actual Christian metal now, right? Lol.

Jesus Christ did I really just see the guy who wrote Travel in Stygian dressed up like an Apple Store manager?
