Disagree, but do respect your opinion Ardius.
In a game guys play that "weirdo" baby guitar or pretend they play drums with a joystick. On stage "fingers bleed" !!!!
Not to mention the audience ...40.000, 100.000 people x 4 drunken buddies at home singing TNOTB along with an XBOX360 game !
.....or some person decides to go play on his mates new game. He heard it was lots of fun and he knows a few songs on it.
Thet play for a few hours and they come across Run to the Hills. They have lots of fun playing and said person decides "hey, that was a pretty fun song, I wonder what Iron Miaden's other material sounds like".
You completely miss my point entitrely.
I wasnt talking about the skill its being played or anything. Im just saying that a game is adding another audience of people who may have not heard Maiden's material and may be inspired.
Ok, and as a gamer, Im going to take offence from the "wierdo baby guitar" comments. Its a game, there isnt meant to be a comparison between it and real life, thats the point usually in playing a game. To escape reality, to live a fantasy. For example, you can drive cars in Gran Turismo at speeds that you would never even dare in real life. Same goes here, you are given the experience of having to play in rythmn and keep coordination, thus helping you "pretend" you are really playing the song and have some fun.
The game was never meant to teach you guitar or drums or singing. Yes, it may help certain elements that help you play these instruments in real life, but they are quite limited.
The intention of the game is to perhaps inspire people to learn the real instruments and maybe increase their interest in some well known and some unknown music.
Edit: Oh, and you talk about numbers in audience? Well, lets see, one tour where only a few hundred thousand get to see it against a game thats going to be distributed all around the world and interest not only metal fans but also pop, rock, nu-metal, non-music etc fans.
