Historical Figures 20 Questions

Well ... fuck me with a broomstick, Matilda. I have no idea what to ask next, with only 7 left.

Let's do a summary:
Born Jan 1 1850 to Dec 31 1924 inclusive, and dead today.
North American.
A cultural figure, and a minor author, though not best known for his writing.
Did many famous things, but best remembered for one thing.
Not an artist in any sense, politician, scientist or archaeologist.

I have no clue where to go. Someone else should ask a question. I guess that makes this post kind of pointless...  :uhm:

I'll issue a clue, then.

This person is best remembered for famous firsts, and a famous first that never was.

That's interesting because the person has not invented something. :)

Hmm, let me see.

14. Was the person a philosopher?

Ok, not to LC, but to everyone else, could this person be a sports figure, like Jackie Robinson, first African-American to play Major League baseball?  Or some one like Rosa Parks?  I am just trying to think of 'cultural figures' of that era....Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcom X.  I dunno.

Is it Amelia Earhart?

Yes, it is!

Amelia Earhart was the first woman to cross the Atlantic, and an pioneering aviatrix.  She disappeared while trying to circumnavigate the globe in 1938, and is primarily remembered for that.

Dammit, I'm tired.

1. Born on or after Jan 1, 1250 AD?
