Historical Figures 20 Questions

Gen. Powell has done a lot of great things, and I appreciate the fact that he has been quite open about his experience with the Bush Administration since he left.  He was really a damn good general - his combat plans in Afghanistan and the Gulf War were just about perfect.  If he had been allowed to make the decisions, he'd have made the right ones.

Part of me really hopes he decides to run for president some day.

Do you think that the fact that he currently holds no office would hurt a bid for President?  Or would he make a good candidate for VP with McCain?

Nobody knows who Gen. Powell is going to endorse for president, so I have no idea.  I think he would give a lot of legitimacy to McCain's ticket.  Having said that, I can't see him doing it after his experiences with the Bush government.  He sat George down and explained for 2.5 hrs why invading Iraq was a bad idea, why the plan was bad, and predicted almost everything that happened...he was just subsequently overruled.  I wouldn't want to do anything in politics after that.

Sure, I can understand all of that.  I'll be curious to see who (if he does) he endorses.

If anyone wants, start up a game!  If not, I'll be back on later this eve and have a name ready.

Sure, I can understand all of that.

Him and Al Gore will only play shuffleboard with each other until they pass into the dirt.

OK SMX, to shake things up a bit; is this person European?

3. Yes, this person was born on or after January 1, 1700.

It is no longer necessary to specify 'AD' since question 2 revealed birth on/after 1/1/1400 AD.

Was this person's contributions to history performed in the 20th century?
Sorry SMX, I'm off to take a final exam (not history). Hopefully someone will be along shortly to pick up where I left off.
