8. Yes, he was an artist.

Please keep in mind: by "artist", I am including all fine arts: painting, sculpture, literature, music, etc...

10. No, he was not a painter.

Halftime summary:
A male who lived between 1000 AD and 1800 AD.
Born in Europe, but not in the former Easter Bloc.
An artist, but not a painter.

Artist, not a painter nor a composer.  Hmm, interesting indeed!

Does this person have "one great work of art" for which they are known?  (IE, Beethoven is known for many compositions, but Leonardo is known artistically for the Mona Lisa, Alexandre Eiffel is known for the Eiffel Tower, Donatello is known for inspiring the most awesome Ninja Turtle, etc.)

12. He is known for several works. There is one that might be called "most famous", but any educated person has heard of many of his works.

Freebie: the art is literature i.e. this man was a writer. So I'm not going to provide a quote yet, since any famous quote would be a giveaway. After question #16, I might give you one word.

13. Yes, he lived in both the 16th and 17th centuries. That is, both the 1500s and 1600s.

The answer should be painfully obvious now...

Correct, Forostar!

If it had gone that long, the quote after #16 was to be "To...".
And if no one got it after 19, I'd have extended the quote to "To be...".

Yes!

As much as I love this game, I also need sleep, so unfortunately I can't be the "answerer" now.

I give the honour to someone else who might like to do it. Wasted? Anyone else? Goodnight!
