GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

Lemme add real quick that Motörhead were at their PEAK live on the supporting tour for this album. I have the blu ray of them playing in Germany for a show on that Inferno tour. It's called Stage Fright. That show is electric! Perfect setlist and the greatest performance I've ever witnessed from Campbell and Mikkey Dee. I've probably watched that thing 50 times.

I can appreciate the influence that Motorhead had on heavy music, but they're just not my thing. I like complexity in a groove and songs that cover many styles and feels, and they don't deliver in those departments. I saw them open for Dio and Maiden in 2003 at Madison Square Garden, and I couldn't wait for them to finish. I realize I probably sound like an old man saying this (and I was 20 back then), but it's just noise to me.

That said, the song posted above is better than most I've heard from the band.

I nominated Amon Amarth but voted for Motörhead because the song posted here is so cool. Amon Amarth was one of my last nominations anyway, when I was trying to find more albums to fill the list, so it’s not too important to me.

I have to say, though, the Motörhead album cover sucks. I think album artwork has never been their focal point.

It looks like it's out of reach in three matchups, but Van Halen has been inching closer in their match. Are there any more voters out there!!

I was stalling because I didn't want to set up a full round, but then I remembered we have a tiebreaker!

It must be a dystopian future, because Van Halen falls to Iron Maiden. We'll find out if Van Halen can survive in the tiebreaker.
UFO busts Ghost. Light is green, trap is clean, and Ghost is no more. It'll be a Maidenfans favourite in Opeth next.
Motörhead burns up Amon Amarth's last album in the GMAC. It's Iced Earth next.
Rush eliminated Celtic Frost for the right to challenge Stratovarius in League 4.

If you’re into old school Metal, I highly recommend Unleash the Archers. Very few bands are doing the style as much justice without sounding like they’re retreading old ground.

Fair Warning is the best Van Halen album though and an all time classic. The jury is still out on where Apex stands, I have a hard time with recent albums in a GMAC competition, but even disregarding that UTA is good but they’re no Van Halen.
