Great Opening Lines

OK, I guess it's time to resurrect this beast.

"Rebels" by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

"Masquerade, masquerade
Grab your mask and don't be late
"

Queensryche - Suite Sister Mary

We all see black and white, when it comes to someone else's fight

That's not really a lyric, but I'm going to guess you're paraphrasing the opening of "Social Disease" by Bon Jovi.

Let's try something tough (maybe)... I'll even give you two lines!

'Cause he gets up in the morning and he goes to work at nine,
And he comes back home at five-thirty, gets the same train every time.

Dammit, I know this one but can't think of the title, I grew up listening to this band because my dad is a massive fan! I won't give the band name away so as not to spoil it for everyone while I have a think about it
Got it! A well respected man by the Kinks, I knew it would come to me in the end.
Anyway here's mine:

Screams and nightmares
Of a life I want

Disgusteen by Teenage Head... an ass kicking tune...
Upon inspection, it appears I completely missed the point of this thread... I shouldn't have sniffed all that glue before posting. Give me a kick. (Check this tune out if you haven't heard it though, it rocks...)

Hard to get that one past an old slayer fan. The Anti-Christ.

See who knows this:

I fear no foe, I have no fear
See me laughing when death comes near

That is going to be tricky for some, I fear. Nevertheless - I Am Immortal by Mortal Sin (Face of Despair is a superb album, by the way).

What's going down in town tonight?
Girls are hot and dressed to excite!

I have no idea what song has that opening line, so I'm gonna google it just to resurrect this thread. It's Wolfsbane - Manhunt.

My turn:

The sympathy in my mind is growing cold
Life is like the burning sand so I'm told

I think I'll try to resurect this thread with an easy one:
My new purple shoes Bin amazin' the people next door

"Hey! Can your feel it? can you see?
There's a storm on the edge of the sky
"
Dio - mystery, I think no one got it because it's actually Hey! Can you hear me?
Anyways Queen-Tenement Funster

I'm out to mix it up and change my complexion

It sounds like an Anthrax lyric more than anything if it's the big four.
