By early 1983, Adam and Garrett were very disappointed with the band's achievements and the musical direction of the first two albums. In fact their then label tried to interfere in creative processes which caused major tensions within the band. Not seeing a way out of the situation, the tandem announced the end of the band and disappeared from the public eye for half a year. It's important to note that, impressed by Iron Maiden's album The Number of the Beast, the two have been considering for some time to break away from classic hard rock influences and change the band's musical style. The last straw was newly released Metallica's album Kill 'Em All, which in a way put missing parts of the puzzle into place. The musicians realized that they want to create in the same direction. Fast and aggressive music with heavy influences of NWOBHM and especially Iron Maiden. The two realized that for this they need a second guitarist. Whom they luckily discovered soon. Interestingly, Rory Masters also was their childhood friend and was already a good rhythm guitarist. Cavan Murphy, which whom Adam and Garrett played in STARBREAKER, also joined their ranks. He proved himself to be a good investment. Heavily influenced by Steve Harris, Geddy Lee, and Lemmy Kilmister he was the right man for the job. Yet, when he heard Cliff Burton's playing style he stepped up his game even more. Thomas Kane, the former drummer of STARBREAKER also wanted to join newly formed band but he had developed way too much classic rock/hard rock drumming style which was not fitting newly formed band concept. Drummer auditions were held in Adam aunt garage and after a month of search, Archibald Blake was declared the drummer of the new band. He was three years younger as median age of the band and was truly intense drummer and a person. Without long hesitation the band called themselves ZOMBIE, a somewhat silly name, derived from the love of band members for George A. Romero's zombie films. The dice was cast and a new era has begun. First EP, named Possessed was released in early 1984.

Interesting facts: on Impending Doom North America tour Zombie was support act for Megadeth. One night after the concert Zombie drummer Archibald Blake farted into Mustaine's beer can. Dave went berserk, but Archibald's mates stood by him and told Mustaine to buzz off. After that Zombie was dropped as a supporting act, but unsurprisingly were picked by Metallica several weeks later. From Adam Morley interview: there's some really bad blood between Metallica and Megadeth. And now between us and Mustaine, you know. By the way, Metallica rules.

With the release of this album ZOMBIE has crystalized it's shtick. It is heavy harmonised guitars. Way denser than Priest and Maiden did. Metal World was in awe and lost their minds altogether. Oh, those were the glorious times..
