I gave it a 6...actually my least favorite song on the album. Think Im in the minority on this board but I think FOTD is a good (not great) Maiden album.
The only song that holds up to anything else in the Maiden catalog for me is Afraid To Shoot Strangers. I could live without hearing anything else from that album again.
When I listen to this song, I get a little bummed only because it's the last track on the last album produced with Martin Birch...which is probably why I like the studio version, it gives me that last bit of production to hold onto...as I understand it, a live version was the one released as a single...and I wonder about that, because the other singles from that album were studio versions...I would only guess that it fits the "live" feeling Steve Harris seems to prefer for albums...when I think of the band producing hit singles, I think of quality studio tracks like NOTB or 2 Minutes To Midnight, because Martin seemed to put the pieces together like a master chef
Iconic Maiden song, and it is great still, even if it is overplayed.
Great arrangement! Great vocals! Many great melodies in this one, and I'm especially in love with the middle section.
And this is even better live of course, with my favorite being Rock In Rio.
When I think of this song I think of 2 distinct ratings - 9 for studio, 10 for live. Going to go with the live as I am very biased towards this song, it being the one that got me into the band.

This was one of the earliest Maiden songs I heard, and has remained one of my favourites. An absolute beast of a track both in the studio and live.
