Different World

[Mosh]

Different World does what it needs to and functions well as an accessible opener to a difficult album. So I respect it on that level. It has some really nice riffs and a classic Adrian Smith solo, both of which keep this song above water for me. Vocal melodies feel somewhat uninspired and the lyrics, while relevant, pale in comparison to Steve’s other musings about the human condition. This isn’t bad, but I’ve heard better from Maiden. 6

Opening riff and verses are killer, in the vein of prime Maiden material. Chorus, especially the second one is AWFUL. What were they trying to be, the new Nickelback, or Creed? It really ruins the song, turns it down from 8 to 4/10.
