I liked Fireball, good album, good songs. But it seemed to lack something In Rock and Machine Head had IMO. Machine Head, really not a ton to say beyond it is one of the top albums ever. Great to awesome songs start to finish
Deep Purple have been inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, if you care about that sort of thing. It's deserved. "Inductees: Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord, Ian Paice." Nick Simper didn't make the cut, evidently.

Wait, where are you seeing this? I don't see her here: http://rockhall.com/pressroom/announcements/the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-2016-inductees/Janet Jackson is in
Janet Jackson is in, and Yes is out. The Hall was making progress for a few years, getting better, but they're clearly fucking up again. Deep Purple and maybe Chicago are the only deserving inductees this year. Cheap Trick, Janet Jackson and Steve Miller had a lot of hits, but that shouldn't be enough IMO. A "Hall of Fame" should be more selective.
Nothing against Steve Morse, who is excellent, but Deep Purple haven't been relevant since Blackmore left (the second time, after the Perfect Strangers reunion). At least Nick Simper was an original member. Frankly, if they's only inducted the classic Mark II lineup, I'd have been fine with it, but if you are going to include Rod Evans, and Coverdale/Hughes, you'd think an original member would merit inclusion too.Nor did Steve Morse, who's now been with them for a long time, making great records.
Yeah.
It's a stupid invented showbiz American thing. Maiden could turn down offer easily, Purple does it only to boost back catalog sales, 'cause that's the bulk of their current earnings. Album sales are low, while shows are still somewhat large (theatre/smaller arena setting for most of their tours), I bet they don't earn much by touring only.
