Death Magnetic

All Nightmare Long and Judas Kiss are my favourites.  The chorus of the former is just grips me when I hear it; it sounds both aggressive and melodic to me.  The first three tracks seem underrated by this board.

They're my favourite ones too, both because of the aggressive yet catchy choruses (is that the plural?).  Would be great to sing along live.  I personally don't like the first three so much, they're too repetitive and unmemorable to me.

I like all of them, but Suicide and Redemption is BY FAR my favorite, great instrumental and easily the best track on the album too.

Suicide And Redemption is fookin' brilliant.

Heard a report on Sirius today that Metallica's set list from the 2nd concert of the tour was totally different from the first concert.
Rumor is they're pulling a Dream Theater on this tour, not an Iron Maiden.

(in other words: different set list every night, with a wide variety of songs they have prepared to choose from - instead of the same set list all the time.)

Edit - just did some more research...
It looks like about 2-3rds of their setlist is the same from night to night, but 4 or 5 songs change each night.

nice info!
here I have to add that Dream Theater is much better than that : it has developpe a kind of database /system in order to avoid playing the same playlist in the same venue twice ; and their database has a depth of maybe 10 years...

let's hope that Maiden, and after seeing Metallica doing this, will give us some set list surprises in the future

Here's the first three setlists from the Metallica tour. I have boldfaced the songs that are changing.

Let me put it this way (and I don't consider this to be a spoiler):

There are 15 songs in the set list. 9 of those are in the same place every night. 6 spots have changed songs so far, although in some cases it's a song moving to a different spot. 2 of the moving songs have been played at every show, but their position in the set list keeps changing.

Encore: 3 songs, the first 2 of which change.

Those are pretty bad setlists if you ask me.
They're leaving out all the best songs on the album.  The Judas Kiss and All Nightmare Long would be awesome sing-along songs live, and I wouldn't mind My Apocalypse either.  At least they're not playing The Unforgiven III, though it would be sort of funny in an "oh fuck, they actually did it" kind of way if they played all three The Unforgivens in a row.  And even the "classics" are lacking, there's too much from the post-And Justice era.

There's too many from the Black album.  They've overplayed those already.  And when they're focusing on the new DM, they should do more rougher, faster tracks without the lousy 'Until it Sleeps' and 'The Memory Remains'.  But whatever, I'm not gonna fork over the money to see them anyway, so I have not right to complain.  :)

An update on DM found here.

Here's the gist:
- Metallica will release "All Nightmare Long" as a single in Europe, Dec. 15 (12th in Germany).  This release will be 3 CDs in length, with some unreleased material and live stuff.  The first CD will feature the video of the single above.
- Also there is a link of a YouTube video.  Metallica sings autographs during a meet-and-greet.  "Harvester of Sorrow" is played live.

So how much "unreleased material and live stuff" are they really offering so that it has to go on three CD's?

Maybe a series of 'listen with lars'.  Ok, bad joke.

A few years back, I had found a live bass solo by Cliff Burton.  It was on some download site, and I don't know where it was from, but I'd love to hear something like that.

pointless somehow, since one can download for free old 'un-released' matterial from their site
...but anyway, it seems 2008 is very gererous from their part
