I always defended Maiden when it came to the usual "Oh man, Maiden are always repeating themselves" discussions. Well in my opinion this was not the case till Dance of Death. There is no song on this album I'd prefer to ANY other song by Maiden. On NPFTD you had at least 4-5 really cool songs. On DoD there's none, therefore every song is too long. Worst one ever. Even worse than the silly cover. Pathetic, pretentious and BORING CRAP.  R.I.P. no life after DoD. [/quote]
You do have a point. No More Lies totally sounds like something from the Blaze period.

Seems that I forgot to say how much I love st.anger and hate Jan's playing on DoD [!--emo&:P--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--] (only joking - in fact I like his solos best on the new record). By the way... I don't have to be a member to defend my position, do I ? And despite being a bit odd, I listened very careful and just couldn't find anything that I love about a good Maiden song. Whatever. I had "piece of mind" on my tapedeck later on, it saved the day as usual. cheers
 
Well ED82 you are one of those guys Bruce was talking about at the show I went to ......Were he said some of you so called fans think Maiden has not made and album since 85.

I guess thats were the 82 in your name comes from or thats your year of Birth.

DoD is very Diffrent but come on even the most Hardcore Old School fan that hates Jan and Blaze can find the good in this album......It has to grow on you to truely love the songs
There not bang bang bang incohearent rambuls like most Nu-Metal bands have
These songs have good meanings behind them..It just takes a minute to full comperhind...you know music for the intelligent.......

I really liked St Anger, any problem? Of course, I prefer DOD. I think you a little bit radical about the new album, no big deal, I can understand. I disagree but I can respect your opinion. After reading what you have to say my opinion still the same. I LOVET IT!!!

I agree with KRS. The song 'Dance of Death' is pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, I'm as big a Maiden fan as there is. I just think that song is crappy. It reminds me of when the dwarves are dancing around the mini-stonehenge in 'Spinal Tap'.

I think this is probably the best album they have released. I didnt think this album would be able to stand up to the hype, but thankfully Ive been proved wrong. In time this album will be mentioned alongside albums like NOTB and POM as a true Maiden classic. The title track is also one of the best songs i have ever heard, by any band, I just hope they can pull this song off live !!!. Have yet to find anything on the album ireally dislike.

Wildest Dreams-6.5- its quite catchy and is growing on me with each listen
Rainmaker-9
No More Lies-7-Again- its growing on me more and more
Montsegur-9-Probably 2nd or 3rd best song on the album
Dance of Death-10- Fucking masterpiece (Why does everyone keep likening the middle section to stonhenge- it remimds me of Queen's Innuendo more than stone henge-BTW-Tap Rule!!!!!!
Gates of Tommorw-6-Really dont care too much for this one-reminds me of Lord of the Flies abit.
New Frontier-7-Catchy rocker-would make a good live number-again it gets better each time I hear it.
Paschendale-at first i didnt quite like it but now it gets a 9.5-brilliant epic.
Face in the sand 7.5.
Age of Innocence-8
Journeyman-8.5-A bit Bruce Soloish but its something different for Maiden and theyve pulled it off near perfectly.

Overall- after 5 days of listening to it I think this is probably one of the best Maiden albums.

It will be interesting to see which songs off this album make it into the live set.

Well maybe. I guess if I had to pick a weak song Face in the Sand would be it. Id give that one a 7. And not all the songs are perfect. Bruces vocals are off the timing in a number of places which, "IN MY OPINION" makes the songs sound a little sloppy in at times. So your right, 9.5 is a little high. I edit my score to a 9. Very solid album from start to finish, but not perfect. Powerslave and Piece of Mind are perfect albums.

LMAO!!! Thats exactly what I thought too! How 'Kin funny! When Bruce finishes with "They had decended from Hell", I always visualize the little stonehendge pilar coming down from above and the dwarves beginning to buggy.
