Crazy news 'round the globe

I live in Atlanta, where this happened. I know at least 5 people in the past three years who have had bullets shot into their apartments from neighbors who "accidentally discharged" them and they were just lucky they weren't hit.

Discharging, in a highly populated area, in a place where walls are made of wood. Level 3 insanity.

Reminded of Iraqi(?) video where they celebrate and the guy fires PPK on auto holding it in one hand, loses barrel control in 1 second and instakills 3 people.

So, a small amount of people are really upset with the vaccine mandates. Many businesses have made vaccination against COVID mandatory, and have dismissed people who refuse to get vaccinated. So they consider themselves persecuted as they are being pushed out of society. The trigger to this was the announcement by the USA that unvaccinated truckers wouldn't be allowed to cross the US/Canada border. Yes, the US government triggered this.

The hard right, run by sovereign citizens, Nazis, white nationalists, etc, have mobilized that anger. They drove about 400 heavy vehicles into downtown Ottawa to protest. They then parked the vehicles in such a way to form barricades, and refused to leave. And the police service did nothing.

They have many different calls. Some call to end vaccine mandates, some call to get rid of vaccines. There are lots of fringe groups, like neo-Nazis and anti-trans/anti-gay protestors, lots of that shit. One of the key organizers has called for non-whites to go back to their own country, another declared herself the Queen of Canada and demanded Trudeau resign and allow her followers to form government. Some of it is truly insane.

Several other protests occurred around the country, blocking the US/Canada border. Eventually these escalated to blocking the Ambassador Bridge between Detroit and Windsor, the largest and most economically relevant border crossing. So the feds decided that was enough and invoked the Emergencies Act for the first time ever to break up these blockades and evict the protestors from Ottawa.

So they've pulled in something like 1200-1500 cops from around the country. Ottawa Police Services, Toronto, Hamilton, Peel, York, Sudbury, Ontario Provincial Police, and Surete de Quebec (Quebec provincial) + the RCMP (some of whom are actually on horses) are there. They set up a perimeter around the protestors encamped for 22 days downtown, and they are slowly pushing them out and arresting them. Been at it all day and likely all night.

The name will keep the couple a secret for a while, although the boy will probably be given a name that is formed with the letters 'X', 'A', 'E' and 'L', just like all his brothers and sisters. :oops:

It was a remarkable sight the past few days at the Saint Gertrude's Church in the center of Ternat. If you looked up, you saw Papa Smurf on the right, and Lolsmurf on the left on the pedestals above the entrance of the church. No one knows how the figures got there. Putting the figurines there must have been no easy task, because they are about six meters high. The pastor of the church, Chris Butaye, is also puzzled. "Suddenly the figures were here on Whit Monday," he says. "Nobody asked us for permission, so I don't understand." The pastor of Saint Gertrude's Church is disturbed by the figures. "A church is not a showcase for anything," says Butaye. "This would also be inappropriate in other religions. It is therefore only logical that we have them removed as soon as possible." In the meantime, municipal workers have taken the Smurfs away, it is not clear where they are now.

Horrible. The time was certainly not random, the night before the annual gay pride parade and the attack took place outside one of the most well known and oldest, gay pubs in Oslo. The shooter has been involved with radical islamism before and seemingly was known by PST (the branch of the Norwegian police concerned with anti-terrorism etc.) after earlier cases of violent conduct.

A simple hate crime, may he find company in the 22. July terrorist in jail. They share everything but their choice of religion.
 
Terrible stuff here. But yes, I don't think this guy was going anywhere other than the gay nightclub scene.
