Complete tracklisting of every Maiden single

Just heard the 'Special Live EP' mix and it's the same tracks used on the 'official' 'Women In Uniform' song, the difference is that it's less polished and there's more emphasis on splitting the guitar harmonies and make clearer what Dave and Dennis are doing (you can hear the lower guitar register better than on the 'official' track); I actually prefer this mix. No H guitar magic in it, though.

Just looking at the list, I don’t recall the Trooper live in 2005. I thought the 2005 singles only had the original and Death on the Road versions. Was it a download?

Good question. The only "Trooper" versions i know from this single are the studio version and the live one in Dortmund 2003.

Where did you hear Adrian Smith replaced Dennis' parts?

The Tony Platt sessions on 16-18/10/1980 were the only known sessions for "Women in Uniform" w/ Stratton in the band. When Adrian joined Maiden he went straight into rehearsals in Clapton for the last part of the tour. At the same time Maiden released the german version of the EP. I have this note:

03/11/1980 - A new “Women In Uniform” EP version is out under “Special Live Ep” title, in Germany. EMI Electrola label.

This 1980 special EP has the same cover artwork as Iron Maiden LP and it probably contains the 2nd mix (as it happened with a few other german singles), being the reason it was called "German mix". I'm not sure, so please check its version!

This mix is an alt. mix without the other rhythm guitar in the beginning of the song. That's the main difference. I don't particularly hear any guitar differences in any other part (which would be the case if Adrian played in it).

Anyway, I've emailed Tony Platt about the subject. He heard the mix and said this:

I’m not at all sure whether this version is a remix but it certainly isn’t a re-recording. The suggestion that Steve Harris mixed the original version is also nonsense - I was at the mastering for the releases so I know my mixes were used.
Whoa this is old!

Anyway, to answer and old thread.

I heard it from Loopy. Years ago...

No, the special EP doesn't have the different mix...

Another fact. The vocals are slightly different in some parts...

I do know Steve didn't touch the original mixes...

Loopy believed it could be from another version with Adrian. That would be fantastic, but giving the "stressful" evidences it's very likely that Maiden would never want to revisit it.

Paul's different vocals parts might be from another take.

This is one tape Loopy presented (i think there's another one)

Tracks missing on the list:

I Can't See My Feelings (Budgie cover) (From Here To Eternity single)
Age Of Innocence... How Old? (No More Lies single)

Cheers, I think I just forgot to add I Can't See My Feelings to the playlist as the digital version is on the best of the bsides, and Age of Innocence is a hidden track I think so not a separate file

Loopy had another tape with a white insert that read "Women In Uniform" in red. On the front, it was labeled "German Mix." Now, as we know, Adrian's first appearance with the band was at the Rock Pop show, filmed in Munich, which ties everything together.

According to my notes, Adrian reworked some of Dennis' guitar parts at Hollywood Studios between November 1 and 6. I also noted, as you mentioned, that Paul's vocals are from a different take.

Maybe this "German Mix" was only intended to be used at the Rock Pop show and not for commercial release as they did with the version of 'Killers' sung by Bruce on his studio audition and that was used on the Generation 80 show in Belgium on April 9, 1982.

Maiden has a B side compilation album called Best of the B’sides (2002).

Here is its track listing w/single title, run time, and the compilation album’s cover art.

Notably, Total Eclipse is not featured here, likely because it was on the TNOTB 1998 remastered version cd. Mission from ‘Arry (B-side, 2 Minutes to Midnight) also isn’t here, likely because they only did song tracks for this compilation.
