Pretty lame song for Maiden standards, for general standards a good rocker with a nice instrumental section. 6.

Not that bad come on. The forum doesn't have a general opinion about it I can see. I like Dave's solo. 7/10.

Another weak song. Same problem as weekend warrior except this time the chorus is a bit better. 1/10

7/10, A good song, it has got one my favourite Maiden opening lines ever "There's a madman in the corner of your eye, he likes to pry - into your sunlight".

It's slightly better than The Fugitive, but it's still boring, plodding, uninspired etc. I now noticed that all the choruses on this album are really catchy but half of them are stupid and boring. 4/10.

I always like to think of the prophet in the gutter on the street as the seventh son, even though it makes no sense but ahwell.

I don't know why people don't like this song that much, I don't know why people don't NPFTD and FOTD that much either. Most of my favorite Maiden songs are from the 90's and this one is no exception, the chorus gets me hooked and stays in my head for several days and I love the slow part half way through the song, its AWESOME in my opinion 8/10

This is the first Iron Maiden song i got in a fight with my oldest son on. He just cant get it out of hes head. I tried to get him to agree another maiden song. But he wouldent listen. He also wants Fear of the dark album for hes 3 years birthday coming upp. He calls it Eddie in forrest. as my own opionion. IMO one of the most underrated songs ever.

A kind of averenge song, but certainly better then it gets credit for. A nice rocker, feels a bit like From Here To Eternity to me. The best part of the song is the breakdown and the solo (that often seems to be the case with the not-so-good songs, the instrumental saves it! :p )

6/10

A little like From Here to Eternity, this song is annoyingly catchy. Dave, once again, shines. His playing on this album is fantastic. 7/10

Re: Daily Song: Chains of Misery

8. I like the 12/8 groove, kinda menacing, Bruce spits the words again and I like this style of his, too; from the tempo breakdown onto the solo section is the highlight of the song and Davey's shines on this wonderful solo. I don't think it has a 'happy' mood, I feel hope and despair just as the carachter in the lyrics as he's trying to break his chains with misery.

totally agreeed, excellent work by Davey on this one too. I've always loved FOTD and most of the songs. Although the album is far from their best, and it definitely has some dull moments (The Apparition, anyone) and overall a lot of the songs feel a bit second rate, I still love it. Chains Of Misery is one of those tracks that, in all fairness, is far from a great song, yet there is something about it that makes me like it. And Dave's wonderful and long solo (one of his longest if not THE longest) is just brilliant. Come to think of it, Dave just totally dominates this whole record. In my book, some of his best solos can be found on FOTD.

7/10

Chains of Misery is the complete opposite of Fugitive, a simplistic rocker without much depth. The chanting chorus is lame, but it’s still a fun song. Nothing special, but a decent rocker with a strong traditional Maiden guitar solo.
