Burning Ambition Documentary

Legend has it so, but the last time they had it printed was on Best of the 'B' Sides... 25-ish years ago :D but, as @Vaenyr said, it's the perfect title for a documentary of this kind.

Anyway when a band produces something like this, the title is usually something the audience will immediately link to them. Like when they did the Queen biopic and called it 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Not exactly the case with 'burning ambition' and Iron Maiden.
While the title is appropriate for die-hards, I can't say I love it. Not terribly evocative, especially for casual fans who have no idea it was a song. The title and even the Akirant artwork, on first glance on my FB doomscrolling, looked like one of those damn AI "documentaries" that is totally coming. When I saw it was linked to Blabbermouth, I clicked on it and found it was legit.

But yeah, I'll reserve judgment upon seeing the trailer, and who am I kidding? If it's showing near me, I'll go see it.

Other than band members leaving, the band has never really had that much juicy gossip attached to them. In just intrigued to see what route this goes down. I think it has the potential to be a great film.

The PR blurb starts out with:

With unprecedented access to the official archives and intimate recollections from the band, both current and past, IRON MAIDEN: BURNING AMBITION invites fans to experience one of the most iconic journeys in music history.

(bolding mine). I'm curious to see what that will entail. Hopefully some never before seen live footage, preferably from eras that weren't well documented. Watch it be Wrathchild from the World Slavery Tour or something lol

IMHO, if they push on the theme of 'kid(s) from East End with a dream', it's not entirely inappropriate. There's an old story about a label available to sign them in the very early days, but on the condition that they cut their hair to align with the punk fashion; and you can imagine Steve's answer.

You know what would have helped with that? An actual trailer from the freaking documentary! If you wanted to get the hype going with this kind of announcement, actual footage is a no-brainer. I'm getting a little worried that this won't be much different from the History of DVDs. For some reason, there was a delay and we don't know for sure if it was because of timing (closer to the NA tour) or if there were quality issues.

I think something we need to keep in mind is what the target audience is. Whereas the history DVDs were for non-casual fans who purchased their DVDs, this documentary will reasonably cater to a larger audience of casual fans and general music fans. It might be the equivalent of a Greatest Hits tour rather than a tour of rarities.

I think the documentary will focus more on Maiden's cultural impact and legacy, and their connection with fans.

This is what the announcement last year said

Featuring rare archival footage and all-new animated sequences of the band’s legendary mascot, Eddie, the film offers a unique visual experience that highlights Iron Maiden’s widespread impact and the strong connection between the band and their truly global army of fans. The film also explores the cultural movement Iron Maiden has helped shape and their enduring legacy in both music and fan culture, challenging common perceptions of the wider significance of rock music and heavy metal.

Yah, @Luisma said he was interviewed for it and that's how it would be.

The press release describes it as 'feature length' and there ain't no way we're gettin too historically in depth in 2 or 2.5hrs.

Considering we have fairly in depth history dvds up til 7th Son it makes sense for this one to take a new angle.

Suits me. Also suits me if they reignite the history dvds post retirement and get proper nasty about eachother in the 90s, yaaaaaaas.

1. It would of been better if they called it - 50 Years Of The Beast

2. At the end of history of maiden part 3 dvd - Adrian says he wasn't no longer in the band then it says - to be continued then ends. Will we get to see from 1999 - 2000+ and why didn't they just do a history part 4 and 5 as well as this new documentary film?
