Bruce Dickinson

This thread, along with the B L A Z E, Adrian Smith and Paul Di'Anno threads, is an experiment. When browsing the history of this forum, you will see lots of threads on Brucie that have drowned after a while, and new members will start similar threads, simply for the sake of discussing his solo works. I thought it would be a good idea to have a central, continuing thread to talk all things Bruce so people know where to make their comments and ask questions. I will now continue with some basic Bruce reference.

To date, Bruce has released the following solo albums:
  • Tattooed Millionaire (1990)
  • Balls To Picasso (1994)
  • Alive In Studio A/Alive At The Marquee (1995)
  • Skunkworks (1996)
  • Accident Of Birth (1997)
  • The Chemical Wedding (1998)
  • Scream For Me Brazil (1999)
  • The Best Of Bruce Dickinson (2001)
  • Tyranny Of Souls (2005)
Note: Alive At Studio A/Alive At The Marquee and Scream For Me Brazil have been merged to a triple-disc release simply called Alive in 2005.

Here are some useful links for Bruce reference:

Please note these sites contain more information on Bruce's discography, further possibilities of discussion (all three sites have discussion forums) and will probably answer any question you may have.

If any mod/monkey may have objections to this "experiment" of mine, they can unpin the topic or inform me about their concerns.

Okay, since everyone else has listed other Maiden members' previous bands, I guess we should add Samson here, then.

Survivors (1979)- With Bruce on backing vocals only, I think.
Head On (1980)- First album with Bruce on lead vocals.
Shock Tactics (1981)
Live At Reading (1981)

The only Samson song I've actually heard is Bruce's live solo version of "Riding With the Angels" on Tatooed Millionaire, but I quite like it (and it happens to have my name in it!).

I have "Head On" (an album I refuse to show anybody, if only because of the cover). It's good, but you notice Bruce is still very young and not quite the same singer that joined Maiden in late '81 on that album yet.

You mean this cover?

You names either "Riding" "Angels" "With" or "The" ::

Oh and I have Head On & Shock Tactics, both are good albums but nothing more really. You can see some of the inspiration for some of Maidens songs came from his experience with Samson

No, no, my name is in the song, not the title! [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /] Man, I bought a magazine with Maiden on the cover a few months back, and I was flipping through the rest, and at the back, lo and behold, I saw Bruce Bruce! I didn’t even recognize him at first, until I saw Thundersticks in the background! He was shirtless, but wearing some kind of funky scarf or tie, wearing these God-awful white jeans, and was sporting a ridiculous mustache that made him look like some kind of bad ‘70s Porno guy! It was fucking hilarious!!! ::

Edit-
Hmmmm...Mav you seemed to have that Samson picture handy awfully fast...Wait a minute! That's you Mav, isn't it?! So, that's what you've been keeping from us!

Whether you people realize or not Bruce Dickinson has airlifted 200 British citizens from wartorn Beirut, Lebanon, last year. He's not just an artist but is also a qualified pilot.

We know.  He is also a fencer.  And an amateur author.  And he can drink a pint of guiness in one go.  Really, he's a jack of all trades. :innocent:

Everytime I even mention the name "Bruce Dickinson" somewhere, somebody goes- "Oh, did you know, he's a pilot!"

Back in 1997, Bruce Dickinson sung one song for the Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie soundtrack. I cannot remember its title but the song itself featured British actor Rowan Atkinson, who played Mr. Bean in that film.

Bruce and Bean did a couple of collaborations, one was for Comic Relief in 1992(ish) were Bruce (and his band, the Smear Campaign) sang the Alice Cooper track - Elected - with Bean running through his manifesto during the song. It also coincided with the UK General Election and a fair few people were actually tempted by Bean in light of the scandalous things many a politician gets up to.

This song is, I believe, the song he performed for the said Bean movie.
